Kulak:

The word originally means, “Greedy”.

The poor peasants were self-employed and difficult for Moscow to surveil.

Therefore they were GREEDY, see..?

When the marginal tax rate on a small business creeps upwards of 60% on top of the direct regulatory costs imposed on a business and accounting for the additional 100s of hours of free labor that business owners must provide to the regulatory state, why would anyone spend a moment trying to earn an extra dollar in business.

In such a regime one only works for the old-fashioned rewards, the riches that can be accumulated effortlessly through pandering and corruption.

And, so, here we are again: The kulaks must be liquidated as a class. But who is a kulak?

for a start, everyone who participates in this forum is a "Kulak". We're all, here, "untermenschen".

Plan accordingly.

Anyone who thinks I’m a ‘kulak’ is a ‘durak’.
(That’s Russian for “idiot”.)

I highly recommend: The Soviet Story (Part 1 of 9) on YouTube. You can watch parts 1-9 without logging in to a youtube account. The whole video is age restricted, so you have to log in to an account. (Pardon the foreign subtitles.)

Leftists know all about the Kulaks. They see us, the producing members of society as Kulaks, to be eliminated, after they take all our money.

To Bolsheviks aka Internationalists, Communists, Socialists, Progressives, Democrats, etc.

Conservatives, particularly Christians are the American Kulaks.

“Revolutions do not set out to be awful. Not usually. They just end up that way. When the Bolsheviks came to power in Russia, many of them wanted to prohibit capital punishment, which they saw as a high-handed czarist institution. V. I. Lenin overruled them. “How can you make a revolution without executions?” he asked. The key to revolution in his mind — and in those of his revolutionary antecedents and descendants — was terror. “We shall return to terror and to economic terror,” he promised, in a revolution of “unrestricted power based on force, not law.” “

Well, technically, the Russian Revolution DID set out to be awful. Don’t forget, they deliberately modeled themselves after the French Revolutionaries, as did their brainfather Karl Marx, and considering he advocated that the year 1793 not only be required to be reenacted but specifically made even gorier than before, it’s pretty clear that Marx, and by extension Lenin and his men, deliberately set out to make things as awful as possible. I’d even suspect the French Philosophes (the true brainfathers of the French Revolution) were wanting to just cause carnage. I know Sade certainly did.

And another thing, while Stalin did play a very large role in the extermination of the Kulaks, he didn’t start that genocide. Lenin himself attempted to exterminate them while he was still in the early stages of his dominion. Don’t forget, he wrote to the Cheka the hanging order of 1918 to publicly hang 100 kulaks.

But overall, I definitely agree with you.

Without the limits of Christianity.....

Anything.

This Kulak story is fairly interesting. With city and metropolitan growth around Russian in the late 1800s....the food chain was marginally working. So after they’d studied various programs around the world....they agreed to create private farms which the farmers....acreage based on number of males in the family....would get their own ‘land’.

Tied to this was the idea of introducing cooperatives which would help purchase local crops and transport into cities, where an abundant food chain was started up. Then they brought in agricultural experts to introduce new ideas to the Kulaks. Started in 1904, this was a fantastic program all the way to the 1917 Revolution, and then in the 1920s....started to hit the brick wall.

The issue became that smart and aggressive Kulaks had money-making farms, and ended up hiring other locals who just weren’t that smart or aggressive. The workers became angry at the success of the Kulaks, and the Communists exploited this frustrated situation.

So by the 1930s....to make the leser folks happy, the Communists seized the properties...shipped most of the Kulaks off to Siberia and helped to create a starvation situation for the next five to seven years in Russia. Who took over the Kulak farming operations and were unable to produce? The losers who whined about the Kulak bosses.

I read a definition of Kulak as a petit-bourgeois (The Black Book of Communism.)

The typical Kulak family, with a father and four sons in the mix...would have gotten 40 to 50 acres. A successful guy could do well with a plot of decent land like that. But to call them petit-bourgeois? Imagine US farmers who ended up with 200 to 300 acres.

First, they came for the billionaires, and we laughed because we did not have a billion dollars;

Then, they came for the millionaires, and we laughed because we did not have a million dollars;

Then, they came for all those with more than $10,000, and no laughter was ever heard in the land again.

Dekulakization (раскулачивание) was responsible for the deaths of about 5 million subjects of the workers’ paradise. Robert Conquest, "The Harvest of Sorrow" has about 30 million Ukranians dying; maybe not all were Kulaks. Note that the minor Kulaks, sent to Siberia (the 'real' Kulaks were executed), prospered, to the dismay of the Soviets, and then had to be eliminated also.
