Howard Schultz has hired ex-Obama aide Bill Burton as a communications advisor as the former Starbucks CEO mulls running for president in 2020, according to two sources with direct knowledge of the matter.
Schultz’s team has been speaking with potential staffers as the former Starbucks chairman debates whether to run for president as an independent, the sources added.
“There’s a lot of people who have reached out who want to become involved,” a person close to the former Starbucks chairman told CNBC on the condition of anonymity.

*I got served a cup of Starbucks on day one when United Airlines switched over. The flight attendants assumed we got a bad upload of water and asked me to write it up in the logbook for a “system flush and refill”. Decades later, I still hate the stuff.
Not often I agree with leftists, but I have to agree with the assessment of one of the people at Schultz’s speaking event who called him a “rich billionaire asshole.”
Why it is EVERY frigging billionaire sees Donald Trump and thinks “hey! I can be President, too!”.
On the other side of the coin, we have useless leftist trash like “Beto” O’Rourke, who seems to think he can be President based on his resume of... what? Cleaning toilets? Or the Insectoid Congress Creature, who thinks she can run the world based on her deep experience as a bartender.
Schultz can spend as much money as he likes. Trump has him goaded and pegged. He rightly notes that Scultz does not have the guts to run. Essentially called him a wimp. Eventually Schultz will crawl back into his cup.
The dems have the most extensive oppo research organization in the world, in the form of their "media." All it takes is for some team from WaPo or the NYT to "find" some illicit proclivity in Schultz's background and that'll be it. By the time this is over, Schultz will be "set right" and become an enthusiastic backer of whichever dem rises to the top in 2020.
Starbucks is the WORST coffee I ever tasted.
When I was working I would hear talk of Starbucks and how everyone needed their Starbucks, blah, blah, blah. One day one of our suppliers brought in Starbucks for everyone. All the sugar and cream in the office could not make that crap drinkable. It was like the emperor having no clothes....they were drinking it and saying how good it is and I’m looking for the camera because I thought it was a joke. A big cup of burnt something.
Now McDonalds - much better coffee, at least up here in Canada.
I hope the president doesn’t discourage Schultz from running - it would definitely work in his favour. First, it would split the vote and help his reelection, but almost as much fun would be watching the left melt down even further. They’ve already started going nuts - watching them act like the lunatics they are would be hysterical. I’d even contribute to his campaign!
If you want to see the Starbucks borg go hay wire go in and ask for a cup of coffee. Just coffee. Not grande latte foam etc. They don’t know what to do.
Or Obama’s sends his aide in. Obama WOULD imagine this guy to be his/their guy in the White House. Imagining trump is just some lucky doofus who stumbled onto a good money making scheme.
And Obama’s does want his own rep in the WH. Someone who owes him something

Starbucks. . . .not a fan for years and years and years.
Starbuck’s (est. 1971) would not exist without Peet’s (est. 1966), which has a better product.
