The price of Forever stamps is increasing by 10 percent, and will go from 50 cents to 55 cents, according to a United States Postal Service press release.
The First-Class Mail Forever stamp price will take effect Jan. 27, the federal agency said. NBC Bay Area reports that the change is the biggest jump in the history of the USPS.
Although the price is increasing, old Forever stamps remain valid for mailing a letter regardless of how much the price changes.
The price change will offset a $4 billion loss the federal agency experienced in 2018. According to NBC Bay Area, USPS said sales from shipping and packages soared 10 percent last year but there was an overall decline in revenue due to rising pay and higher transportation costs.
The first Forever stamp was issued in 2007 for 41 cents. In November, USPS announced that dancer Gregory Hines, singer Marvin Gaye and a Hearts Blossom stamp would be added to the Forever collection for 2019.

According to WIkipedia (article on the American Postal Workers Union), the Post Office was unionized in 1970, after a strike in 1969. There were prior Postal workers associations dating back to 1890.
So, JFK’s EO, which made government unions possible, benefitted the Post Office workers before some of the other Civil Service employees, like yourself. You got the short end of the stick, apparently.
All governmental unions ought to be banned.

Have a friend that deals in stamp collections. They sell off the profitable stamps from a collection and the leftover provides a lot of ‘free’ postage. LOL.
Been in a neighborhood bar during the day, lately?
Guess who’s playing pool until 1400 hrs.
That’s it boys -— way to go. To cover for your INCOMPETENCE, you give your customers another reason NOT to use the USPS for their needs.
Smart move. Fedex and UPS are loving it.....
Nice warning
Who the heck still uses stamps? Most folks use consist of a couple of birthday cards and Christmas cards each year. So bfd on the increase. Its still a goid deal when you think about it, that is if the letter actually gets delivered. My expereience with USPS the last few years has been a nightmare.
You need to be investigated by PETA for bird abuse. No way you should subject your bird to that crap.
Either way, doesn’t seem like a good investment. Sounds like the lifetime membership I once bought at the video rental store some years ago. :(
Lol
I had a five year gym membership once.
USPS seems to do a great job for Amazon!!!
WHEN????
You missed it. Today.
Bingo!
The USPS also does a lot of Affirmative Action hires, who sometimes are quite mental midgets.
Sorry, I heard about it 6 weeks ago. Made some purchases but just told my wife I should have made more.
“The USPS also does a lot of Affirmative Action hires, who sometimes are quite mental midgets.”
And they make up for their low IQ’s by resorting to being petty a$$holes. The USPS is typical of all government agencies, it’s just that the are a huge tax burden for those of us who have to pay for it. I guess I’d feel better about the financial screwing I get from them if they looked at all like they appreciated having a job.
