Saturday on Fox News Channels Americas News HQ, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) defended the deal President Donald Trump had announced to reopen the federal government on Friday.
Gohmert told host Kristin Fisher the deal was not a cave to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (R-CA), but instead the first round of many in the battle over border wall funding.
No, I dont think that hes caved to Speaker Pelosi, Gohmert said. This is round one of a, you know, 12-round bout, maybe 15. So and this is a very strategic move on the presidents part. I was visiting him at the White House on Wednesday, and I know what he is doing. This is a good move on his part. He has not capitulated on the wall. The problem is when youre dealing with leaders in a party who are more concerned with political victories than they are about protecting the country, then you really have a tough time. Then when youve got a Senate that has people that got elected to do nothing as Republicans except make Trumps life miserable, its a tough area to navigate.

And yet we have so many surrender monkeys right here, always ready to throw their towels into the ring while standing by and watching Trump fight hordes of evil armies as the “chaff conservatives” fall by the wayside.
Nothing as complicated as getting a wall built along our entire southern border is ever accomplished in a straight line. Bobbing and weaving will be necessary to win this fight.
Many a long, touchdown run has been made even after the runner gets hit and dodges to avoid tackles. Near misses don't count if the ball carrier eventually gets it across the goal line.
Sometimes lateral moves or even going backwards before pressing forward again are how it works. This is no different.
My view is let the president we elected do his job and and not second guess him or criticize him because of our Monday morning quarterbacking.
Now is not the time to waiver or give up on the best president we've ever had in the Oval Office. He needs our support now more than ever. It's him against the world and if we don't have his back who will?
Trump is the one out there on the field of battle fighting for us and the country, not us keyboard peckers on this blog.
Shhh..
You’re messing up the Epic Whine of FR Never-Trumpers. Short-term thinking and persistent pessimism is all they have left.
Don’t try to confuse them with facts. You’ll have about as much luck as pointing out the truth to Occasional-Kotex and her merry band of commies, idiots and brother f*****rs
Trump’s problem is he has to deal with vipers in his own party, like Ann Coulter’s favorite failed presidential candidate siding with the enemy.
We should be focused on removing the GOPe tom office.
Hey, Arm Chair politicking is hard work. Especially for those with closed minds. ;-)
It never ceases to amaze me that for all the supposed political animals on here how BAD some of them, like you, are at actually playing the political game.
Nasty Nancy’s band of renegades, led by Occasional-Kotex won’t be happy she thew away DACA.
Jealous?
Another reason we need Amy Coney Barrett on SCOTUS....immediately and replace the “Notorious RBG”.
I’m just glad that George Washington had a better breed of men who stuck it out even when he retreated than the mewling pukes here at FR who are already rolling belly up on the floor peeing all over themselves.
Really?? How did I miss that??
I think they're flinging something else based on my observance of monkeys at the zoo.
So I’m wrong because I’ve never held office?
Another fallacious attack on my character which is irrelevant.
What does this have to do with Trump caving?
Following your logic, Ocasio-Cortez must be right - she got elected after all.
I’m starting to understand why the left is kicking our asses.
So the American Left just got everything it wants and it’s all my fault somehow.
Interesting.
So it’s your contention that Trump has given up and will no longer pursue a border wall?
George Washington understood that he had to keep the morale of his men up.
He realized that constant retreat was a BAD THING.
George Washington sought VICTORY in the field.
He had to keep his army together.
Constant retreat and surrender wasn’t a strategy.
Agree
Don’t be pathetically obtuse.
