Some Aldermen Angered by Report Solis Wore Wire (Chicago)
WTTW ^ | 1/23/19 | Paris Schutz

A mixture of surprise, anger and disappointment from City Council members Wednesday in the wake of a Chicago Sun-Times report stating longtime Ald. Danny Solis wore a wire to assist the federal investigation into Ald. Ed Burke.

The story sent shock waves through Wednesday’s City Council meeting, at which Solis was noticeably absent. The 25th Ward alderman, who is not seeking re-election, is reported to have recorded more than a dozen conversations with Burke over the last two years. Like Burke, Solis has been a powerful, longtime alderman. He is the former head of the Hispanic Democratic organization and longtime chair of City Council’s Zoning Committee.

Wednesday’s meeting was also notable because it was the first since Burke was formally charged with attempted extortion. Gone were his security guards and his customary perch at the center of the floor. Instead, Burke quietly took his new seat at the end of the first row, interacting with few alderman. Reporters chased Burke to get his reaction to the Sun-Times story; he reiterated that he believes he’s done nothing wrong.

The article begs the question........ how many other aldermen conversations did solis record?

It’s like Trump. It is foolish to think he was the only republican candidate surveiled by Obama et al

The Chicago Sun Times report on this says Solis was considered a close ally with Burke and Rham Emanuel. I couldn’t copy it here but, wouldn’t that be something?!

I don’t know if Burke is a republican or democrat, but there is no difference in Chicago. They’re all corrupt. Corruption is so entrenched they don’t even realize they’re corrupt.

Exactly.

The "organization" is deeply troubled.

They are supposed to be immune from prosecution...

Hmmm...... it never occurred to me that Burke was not a Democrat.

It was inconcievable that there was a Republican alderman in Chicago

Solis is the alderman of the 25th Ward of the City of Chicago which includes the Lower West Side.

He was appointed by Mayor Richard M. Daley in 1996.

He is the brother of Patti Solis Doyle, Senator Hillary Clinton’s former campaign manager.

Solis was a member of Clinton’s Illinois Steering Committee.

There is a good reason for that.

Did you ever notice that restrictions on citizens being able to carry guns and defend themselves are strongest in the areas where there is the most corruption?

The Sullivan law in New York was put in place by "Big Tim" Sullivan, one of the Tammany Gang, to protect his enforcers.

For sure a Democrat, was this Burke. Republicans have been reviled and despised for years anywhere in or near the Chicago city council, and most of the higher offices in Cook County. A FEW Republicans can still be found in some of the fringe communities in Cook County, but they are a rarity, and seldom announce their presence.

In the absence of two-party politics, single-party government tends to have internal factions arise, and there may be, from time to time, a falling out among thieves.

So is this a move on Madigan or is this Madigan making a move on Burke? Their racket has been property tax rates, come to them pay a fee and miracles of miracles the board finds you pay too much property tax.

The Mob always hates it when a ‘made’ guy wears a wire to an executive meeting.

Note that this scumbag Burke is a notorious gun controller, but they removed 23 guns from his house. He backs gun control because he has armed guards and lives outside the City where he imposes his fascist will on the people of Chicago. There needs to be a law that any politician who backs gun control cannot have armed guards. Good luck with ever getting that of course.
