Good post.

Hey, your hair isn't on fire, either. ;-)

And, hard as I have tried, I think Trump is only a stopgap. Eventually we will be in the hands of a socialist who runs, not walks, to the UN to sign that mandate. Will the wall matter then? Nope.

What we need to do is find a way to start America over somewhere else. Or, CW2.

So how many boxes go your way?
===========

Send it all to me. It might compensate me for the years I spent working for conservative candidates, the thousands I've donated and the shoes I wore out canvasing.

Then again, you keep it, I'm a prosperous man, but you seem to be needy and not too bright. Yep, I'm sure, you keep it.

PS Make sure the President gets some. What I saw on TV was a weak old man, not the guy I worked for and voted for.

If you want to speak up, then contact the White House and your politicians in Washington. Write your local newspaper editor too. Crying on FR isn’t going to get anything done.

There’s a panel of experts going to say what the best way to spend the money is, and some of that is going to be fencing, and a lot is going to be a bunch of other things. This could have happened in December.

David, how was he supposed to win the stand-off with Pelosi? What would you have done to win it?

You are correct, nothing has been lost today.

Everything was lost decades ago with our selfish spending habits that is not paid for initially. Our consumption/entitlements are passed onto future generations to deal with.

We have been kicking the can down the road a long time, crossing our fingers and hoping there is road left every time the can gets kicked by politicians under the moonless and starless night that "guides" them.

Eventually the road ends... problem is we keep on kicking rather than picking up the can, taking the economic along with financial responsibility, and making the proper sacrifices to sustain smart growth so that future generations have fiscal viability. We prevent that with every "ceiling" elongated and every cent of debt added to the deficit so that we can enjoy the here and now.

he reserves the option to turn the fund spigot off again

Never going to happen. Going for a second shut down? The President was unconvincing in his arguments. He even sounded tired. He is coming into campaign season for President. He will probably have to face a Primary challenge no matter what but if he closes government a second time the primary challenge will be all the more stronger against him.

[Republicans had a supermajority for two years]

There’s a difference between a “simple majority” and a “supermajority”.

Welcome to FR on your first day.

Trump didn’t cave. The GOP caved. He’s got two choices: Open the government himself or have his veto overridden. In either case no wall. He has determined publicly splitting with his own party will be a wedge the Dems use to weaken him further. He has all the facts. We don’t. So I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

My fear is this is Trump’s “Social Security Privatization”.

That was the turning point for W, after he lost that fight, he was never the same.

Hey, Newbie...What have you done other than demean the only leader fighting for us? I am ashamed of you.

This battle is not over

Maybe not, but I think we need a new General, the one we have is no Patton, no Andy Jackson.

No kidding. And there won’t be another like him.

How he has stood up to the daily assault of the liberals and their media whores is beyond me.
