Microsoft's search engine Bing could not be accessed in mainland China as of Thursday morning local time. That marks the apparent blocking of the last major non-Chinese search platform that had been operating there.
According to a report from the FT, which cited two unnamed sources, that blockage came on the order of the government.
"We've confirmed that Bing is currently inaccessible in China and are engaged to determine (our) next steps," a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed in an email to CNBC.

Don't worry - Goolag, which influenced the 2018 midterm elections in favor of the Demokratzis, is currently suppressing information at the behest of the Chinese dictators.
Much as they'll do here if they manage to help the Nutzi Party get back into power.
Unless, of course, "something" happens to them... ;-)

It took them until only recently because they thought bing was actually Chinese.

Look at how quickly the Venezuelan government shut down the internet access there; they’ve learned that this is how to control people - control their communications and access to information.

I can also confirm this. This is a bother, but not critical. I use “Search Encrypt” and don’t have a problem at all. I haven’t used Google in years, and not because it is banned. DuckDuckGo is also banned.
Of course, you can tunnel out using a VPN and get it, but why bother?

Maybe Microsoft should remove H1B visa access to the Red Chinese working in Redmond and make the jobs available to Americans....
Just a thought.

Yes. I live in Communist China. I’ve been living here for a solid fifteen years, now.
Oh, sure, I miss many things like a decent pizza, unlimited cups of coffee, and my guns. And why did I ever get rid of my GTO? On the other hand, I eat far better than I ever did before. I have a great house with an astounding view, and the girls here are slim, busty, and very friendly.
Most of what you see on China in Western media is just propagandized nonsense. Yes, China is a police state, but it’s not what everyone thinks it is.

I use Bing too for the same reason I read Playboy as a kid — for the pictures.
Actually, Microsoft has a lot of bad aspects too but in the hierarchy of my hate, Microsoft/Bing fall well below Google in my book.

America? Well, yes, for my part. I certainly wouldn't forsake my country to live in some totalitarian hell-hole in order to accrue a few petty material advantages. But that's just me.

"Iuse Bing too for the same reason I read Playboy as a kid for the pictures." Playboy had pictures?. As a teen I always procured a copy of the magazine for the articles and the Gahan Wilson cartoons ! /s
As to the internet, Europe and America are trending the direction of China as to access and content.

A few years ago while in Hong Kong I tried to access "google.com" on the hotel's wifi system. All I could get was "google.cn with "cn" being the national "extension" for China. Curious...I decided to check something I had read about so I searched "Tienanmen Square".Unlike here where you get thousands of photos of dead and dying students being carried off by their friends all you get there are photos of a peaceful, serene place with a benevolent Mao Tse Tung smiling down at you.
So what I had read was true...China does seriously censor the internet.
I wasn't surprised.

Don't worry - Goolag, which systematically and deliberately 'disappeared' over half a million images of Obama's birth certificate in mid-July 2007, and influenced the 2018 midterm elections in favor of the Demokratzis, is currently suppressing information at the behest of the Chinese dictators.
