White House acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney has pressed agency leaders to provide him with a list of the highest-impact programs that will be jeopardized if the shutdown continues into March and April, people familiar with the directive said.
Mulvaney wants the list no later than Friday, these people said, and its the firmest evidence to date that the White House is preparing for a lengthy funding lapse that could have snowballing consequences for the economy and government services.
The request is the first known inquiry from a top White House official seeking information about the spreading impact of the shutdown, which has entered its fifth week and is the longest in U.S. history. Nancy Pelosis frequent flyer program.
Fund Constitutional programs only. I know. I can dream.
The DACA and the Dacettes Mariachi and Chili Cookoff Band is toast
March/April is max tourist season in DC - Cherry Blossoms. Also, this effectively neuters the Resistance takeover of the House - their constituents will not be served by this.
It is The Post. But sounds like Pres. Trump is standing firm.
Shut them down. This is a good time to downsize government.
10% cut on all programs. Start RIF proceedings for existing non-essential personnel.
Go from there
Trump’s “going to the mattresses.” Good; he’s a fighter.
It could become the new normal for funding Govt. Either we trim Govt, or it gets shut down.
Democrats can pass all the spending bills they want. They will die in the Senate.
A fat lot of good control of only one house does them.
So, what happens when the essential personnel start quitting/not showing up to pursue paying jobs?
We get a wall one way or another.
Trump should
1 declare a soe and allocate money for the uscg
2 wait 24 hours
3 declare a state of emergency and allocate money for the wall
4 ifnore any of the courts if they challenge him
Obamas Security detail along with the Clintons.
No Cherry Blossom Parade or scores of Asian weddings under the trees.
Bet that is a short and inconsequential list. Congress did this to themselves, approving most of the budget in advance and only tying a few token departments and agencies to the wall. No one notices, no one cares. Leave them mostly shut down. Fire most of these workers, then apply the same scrutiny to all government departments and agencies.
Post now hiring on online!
The democrats have only been in office for 3 weeks now, and they are already destroying the country.
Or put another way, they’ve already been in office almost 3 weeks, and have accomplished exactly nothing.
The DACA and the Dacettes Mariachi and Chili Cookoff Band is toast
