WASHINGTON — President Trump said he would look for alternative venues for his State of the Union address on Tuesday, appearing to capitulate after Speaker Nancy Pelosi again told him she would not invite him to deliver it at the House until the government reopens.
The decision came after a tit-for-tat between Mr. Trump and Ms. Pelosi over the State of the Union address.....It had concluded, at least by late afternoon, with Mr. Trump declaring at the White House, “The State of the Union has been canceled by Nancy Pelosi because she doesn’t want to hear the truth.”

She’s a fool and obviously a terrible negotiator. She may be trapped by her party, but I predict this all leads to her downfall as speaker.
I imagine the nuclear option applies. They table a bill to invite POTUS to speak. The Dems can only filibuster for so many hours, then the Senate gets a floor vote.
Pick a large venue - say Staples Center in Los Angeles. Put the tickets on Ticketmaster. Give State of the Union address. Record it onto a DVD. Mail it to the Speaker should she choose not to attend.
Betcha that it’ll sell out.
I'm betting that Pelosi played right into Trump's trap. And the sad part is, he made the trap very easy for her to escape. But she chose the difficult path, so let's see what happens next!
He should set up good chairs for the GOP and the guests ... and metal folding chairs for whatever Dems dare to show their faces.

The feral employees are not an immediate problem. The feral contractors probably are. In another 10 days this shut down is going to start hurting pretty badly for lots of people and will threaten the economy. Everybody involved knows that.
Trump is gambling the howls against pelousy are louder than the ones against him. He is betting the left rank and file, not the hard core base, will want to know why it isn’t reasonable to fund the wall. They see the advantages for them.
Yes, sad as the sentiment is, people are thinking “it’s only $5 billion, WTH?” Pelosi is picking the wrong fight. I don’t even believe she has public opinion on her side wrt securing the border. I think most people want a secure border. And if it is walls and fences she objects to, she should counter with a lot of money for electronic surveillance systems.
She’s blown it big time by rejecting the DACA compromise. She gave that win to Trump, who can campaign on “I offered to extend DACA, the Dems rejected it”. The only way for her to save face is for her to come over the top, which actually plays right into Trump’s hand. Now we have this bit of SOTU idiocy which likewise makes her very weak.
Is that true? Well you don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.
He just caved. No SOTU until after shutdown is over.
Trump just tweet that he will wait to hold SOTU after shutdown ends.
He didn’t cave. He just caused Nanny’s indigestion to continue. She’s gonna be needing to see Hillary’s Indian doctors soon for meds.
This will make Nanny have nightmares and indigestion for the near future. She was probably hoping he would have it elsewhere without her sitting behind him looking like an 80 year old great grandma with her spittoon at the ready.

Cave is if he gives in on wall funding and amnesty. Those are the important tests. The SOTU is a distraction.
SOTU was his best chance to get his message out. He can’t put pressure on squishy GOP without public support.
