Socialism is pretty grand, if you happen to be one of the leadership, or related to someone in leadership.
Everyone that wants to eat, or stay out of prison, curries your favor, or cowers in your presence. No laws apply to you, and you simply take anything you want, from money, to property, to kids off the streets to use as sex toys.

Socialism is also pretty grand for almost everybody at first. A chicken costs $2 to raise, but the government sells it for $1. A sack of potatoes costs $2 to grow, but the government sells it for $1. Paradise!
But pretty soon there are no more chickens, and no more potatoes.
