Having been an election official for over twenty years, I can tell you that it would be a violation for me to ask the immigration status of a voter who is on the registration rolls.
Yeah. I was a poll worker last election. That law needs to be changed.
Not to be obnoxious, but a violation of what? Fifteen years ago I stood behind an individual who spoke very limited English, presented simply a utility bill to establish local residency and was registered to vote. When asked, the registrar responded that it was a violation for her to inquire as to citizenship.
IMO, it is ineffective to argue the point at the state level and will take much stronger effort at the federal level to save America. We presently have a foaming-at-the-mouth, out-of-the-closet leftist in charge of 1/3 of our government and a quick survey reveals the left's nation-wide army of political officials is growing exponentially.
