An Ypsilanti man says he was trying to teach a few students dressed in American Indian theme party about respecting Native Americans.
Not long afterward, Nathan Phillips said that an interaction with party-goers and students turned ugly. Nathan Phillips says he was out for a noon walk on a Saturday in mid-April.
He walked by a home where he saw Eastern Michigan University students dressed as Native Americans.
"They had little feathers on, I was just going to walk by," Phillips said. "A group of them said 'Come on over, come here.'"
He says he walked over to the fence and saw roughly 30 to 40 students involved in a theme party.
"They had their face painted," Phillips said. "I said what the heck is going on here. 'Oh we are honoring you.' I said no you are not honoring me."
It was a statement he says they took offense to.
"Then started whooping and hollering," he said. "I said that wasn't honoring, that was racist. Then at that time, it really got ugly."

but fox?
They have mostly black violent crime and child neglect stories, babies left in a trash dumpster by the mother, carjacking victims interviewed and so on.
I’ve always thought the kissing up was silly because a huge majority of viewers do not live in the city of Detroit, which has had an enormous decline in population. 1.8 million in 1950, 700,000 in 2010.
All the growth in housing and businesses has been in the areas outside Detroit.
About 1% of actual black Detroit residents make up the attendance at Detroit Tiger or Lions games, for instance.
Sometimes the camera crew finds 2-3 black couples or families during 2-3 hours of coverage (I started counting them as a pastime during lulls in the “action”.
Funny slipup by Detroit Tigers front office a few years ago: one guy said “We are disappointed with so many Latin players on the Tigers so few of the thousands of Mexican Americans living in the city ever go to our games.” Like, why don’t those idiots reward us financially for kissing up to them?He had to apologize and try to retract it.So why act like the ad money is going to bear fruit pretending to care about them?
All local TV news here including Fox will jump at the chance to feature “global warming caused by humans says local high school teacher who wants to raise awareness” or “local women set to go to Women’s March-— hear them sound off at 11.”
This was a local Fox affiliate, not the Fox News Channel. I’m not sure to what extent the parent company directs editorial policy.
The old joke was that the only whites in Detroit at night were the ones going to the Red Wings games.

LOL.
Too bad it isn’t a joke.
>I have sympathy for Indians in general, they are broken people.
I have no sympathy for indians. They are the root cause for their issues.
>Eventually they will be absorbed and extinct like most other similar >tribes around the world.
And this very good.
