Native Twitter has gone ablaze as a Native American elder singing the AIM Song in Washington DC during the Indigenous Peoples March was ridiculed, taunted and mocked by a group of non-Native youth.
The video, which was posted by YouTube account holder KC NOLAND, was also screen captured and shared on other social media accounts with views shortly gaining tens of thousands of views.
The elder is Nathan Phillips, an Omaha elder who is also a Vietnam Veteran and former director of the Native Youth Alliance. He is also a keeper of a sacred pipe and holds an annual ceremony honoring Native American veterans in the Arlington National Cemetery.
Phillips is also the subject of a previous racially-based incident when he was taunted and harassed by Eastern Michigan University students who were dressed stereo-typically as Native Americans. As reported in FOX 2 News, he was yelled at and hit by a thrown beer can.
In a previous interview with Phillips, he told Indian Country Today that returning from Vietnam was not easy as a veteran. People called me a baby killer and a hippie girl spit on me.
Indian Country Today does not have further details, but will report as more details emerge.
After viewing a bunch of videos from different angles, the whole incident was a sh*t show! The kids didn’t really do anything wrong. The Indian guys and his supports were obviously trying to instigate an incident and the black Israelites are nutjobs. What should have happened was the kids chaperones’ should have escorted those kids out of there because it was not a safe environment for them. You should be able to wear your maga hats anywhere but the school should have recognized that kids may not be able to judge when an incident can get out of control. The kids were just being kids, having fun andbeing a little silly. The reaction to this is so out of control as to be unbelievable! Doxxing the kids for this?! Crazy world the SJW have created.
I apologize. I was mostly wrong and you called it right.
check this out.
Well now that you’ve been totally discredited, what have you got to say for yourself?
Just pinging you to remind you of your sellout.
You were saying?
How do you suggest a 15 year old handle a septuagenarian challenging him without provocation?
Which is a problem YOU need to correct.
Spoken like a true member of the Hekawe tribe! How’s Roaring Chicken and Chief Wild Eagle?
Have you ever actually READ the Declaration of Independence?
I amended my comment on another thread, to reflect the REAL circumstances which were subsequently revealed. The boys were obviously NOT at fault.
Yes
For you:

Yesterday, when I first saw this event, I thought the young man was smirking at the elder...I didnt see the elder walk up to the teenagers....Being part Tsalagi, I sided with the elder____at first...
After viewing posts, I did a little research on Nathan Phillips and saw exactly what kind of person he is...
I apologize for my first stance on this event...
The young man was standing his ground, which is extremely admirable for his age...
The elder is an insult to all tribal Americans everywhere in our great country....
And after reading it you don’t think the continued existence of any Indians whatsoever is a monument to the tolerance and forbearance of the American people?
Now THAT was honorable!
Any walking back that doesn’t include a condemnation of the provocateurs is nothing but posturing.
Bravo to you, Sir.
Thank you...I had the wrong impression at the first...But a little research cleared that for me...
To think, AIM wouldn’t have had horse manure to throw at the parade if the white man hadn’t imported horses for the Indians to steal.
I already retracted my first statement. You, and one other person have rebuked me, after I retracted it. As a courtesy, I am informing you of that fact, but if you’ve been following the threads about this, you already know that I made a retraction, since my first post was in response to the skewed information available to me at that time. If I get more rebukes such as yours and the other one, I probably will not address them, since this is the third time I have addressed my error. Besides, I don’t wish to spend my time answering childish “I told you so” comments. Thank goodness you have never made an error, but you might want to read ALL the comments, before you start casting aspersions.
