Blood cells only live a short time.
If you put in new blood on top of old isn’t that like adding new oil instead of changing the old in you car? Maybe they need to change the filter too? (kidney)

This is why digital meat thermometers are so important. 165 degrees for chicken or I don’t eat it. If it oozes blood it is not safe to eat. Possibly the above has to do with food safety?
