How can the Senate R’s fold if Trump will not go along with it. McConnell is up for election in 2020 in a red state. If he folds he loses his re-election. The pressure on the Dems is causing them more trouble than the media report. The effort to postpone State of the Union reveals they realize they are losing the public relations battle the longer this goes. Some Democrats are starting to peel off and express support in the House while a number of Senate Democrats are worried about how it makes them look, especially up for election in 2020.
A compromise could center around vague language for border security that lets Trump build the wall and lets the Dems pretend they stood firm. Or even earmarking money collected from seizure of assets from drug traffickers to use for the Wall so that no new money is authorized.

I think Nancy is going to find out the SOTU when/where decision rests with Trump and not Nancy. I think Trump is going to blow up tradition.

Question, Madame Speaker: When you extended your invitation on January 3rd for the President to give his State of the Union Address, wasn't the government already in a shutdown? Why, then, did you extend the invitation in the first place?

I don’t think President Trump should have anything to do with those sexual deviants, bigots, racists and freaks in The House on The Hill.
The speaker has to give the President permission to enter the House. The Sgt at Arms has the authority to deny entry to the President.
But there is no reason the State of the Union address cannot be given in a larger venue with the Judicial branch, The Senate,House Republicans ( the House Dems will boycott), in which the public can attend.
Can you imagine a 65,000 attendance by the public in support of PDJT with the other branches of government in attendance without Pelosi?
A TRUMP rally and State of the Union Address combined ?

Or do a State of the Union speech from the Oval Office and do a rundown of how many illegal reside in each state. The people in each state want to know exactly how many have invaded in their locales.
