Im trying to figure out - why does the UK have to make ANY sort of deal at all with the EU? Voters overwhelmingly said we want out, NOW!. There is nothing that the UK has to do but - quit. They then head back to trade on their own like it use to be (and probably get a better deal than via the EU cesspool).
That is exactly what will happen if there is no deal by March 29 and there is no extension under Article 50 of the Treaty on the European Union, which requires unanimous consent of the EU member states. The Treaty will no longer apply to the UK and the UK will no longer be in a customs union with Europe. It would trade with the EU under WTO rules.
Most of Parliament doesn't want that, though. However, most of Parliament doesn't agree on what they do want, so that may be what they get.
