It was a rough day for author and CNN legal analyst Areva Martin on Tuesday. Martin accused Sirius XM radio and Fox Nation host David Webb of “white privilege” during a segment on a radio program before he broke the news.
“Areva, I hate to break it to you, but you should’ve been better prepped. I’m black,” Webb said.
The embarrassing moment occurred during a discussion about experience being more important than race when determining whether or not someone is qualified for a particular job.
“I’ve chosen to cross different parts of the media world, done the work so that I’m qualified to be in each one. I never considered my color the issue, I considered my qualifications the issue,” Webb said.
“That’s a whole, another long conversation about white privilege, the things that you have the privilege of doing, that people of color don’t have the privilege of,” said Martin – who also hosts CBS’ “Face the Truth.” A dumbfounded Webb asked, “How do I have the privilege of white privilege?” Martin responded, “David, by virtue of being a white male you have white privilege.”
The Fox Nation host then explained that he was actually black. “I stand corrected,” Martin said. Webb scolded Martin for running with an “assumption" and she then blamed her team for providing inaccurate information.
“That’s actually insulting,” Webb said.
“It is and I apologize,” Martin replied. “I was given wrong information.”

Yep, she asked what his race was/is before the show purposely to use the “white privledge” line. It backfired.
More likely perhaps, they told her he was a conservative radio host and she just assumed he was white.
“White privilege is a term used to justify acting prejudicially and unfairly toward whites.”
Actually they love using the term “white privilege because it kills two birds with one insult....It demeans the person being accused of it and is a catch all excuse for under-performance in society by a minority.

She should have axed him ahead of time if he was a cracka wid a goot job. His white dialect threw her off.
My boss was Director of Public Works and an employee filed a discrimination grievance against him because the employee was an Alaska native. Boss played along for a few weeks. Then when the employee and his SEIU came to the office for a sit-down, Boss pulled out a photo of his family, including three native Alaskan children he had adopted. Oops. The grievance lost its sizzle over the next few days, and eventually was dropped.
Never ask a CNN analist like Areva Martin for a fist bump.

You mean "SMLK" which is SAINT Martin Luther King. Where we honor this man in such a way that NO PRESIDENT of our country, Washington, Jefferson, Reagan, is honored . . . with a special holiday.

I agree; the phrase “white privilege” is used by people who have given up on competing with whites. They use it to heal their crushing inferiority complexes.
Personally I’m flattered by the term.
