A mass drug overdose in Chico, California, Saturday attributed to the opioid fentanyl underscored reports that the dangerous substance drove 2017 statistics showing Americans were more likely to die of drug overdoses than car crashes.
One person has died and 12 people were in the hospital, some in serious condition, after overdosing on substances likely including the extremely strong synthetic opioid, Chico police said according to NBC News.
Fentanyl was concentrated in eastern states when it first came to the attention of law enforcement and public health authorities, but now western states are also seeing its effects.
“We were waiting, and have been waiting unfortunately, for this to happen in the sense that we knew fentanyl had been moving west,” Chico Police Chief Michael O’Brien said according to NBC News.

Since taking (nonprescribed) drugs is a CHOICE, no sympathy from these quarters. Actions have consequences.

As someone said on pm people have to take responsibility for their choices and as hard as that sounds I can’t agree with it more.
My parents made their choices and then paid for them. It was no one else’s fault but theirs.

People make poor choices of all kinds in their lives. Some die from their choices and some just languish their entire lives amounting to next to nothing.
I only wish joy and happiness for everyone, but I also have no concern for those that continue to choose poorly and not learn to do better for themselves. I help those that try to do better, and forget those that won’t.

Read yet another article were police officers get sick with this stuff when they answer the OD calls......if fentanyl is in the place or car they risk getting it on them and it just takes a minute amount.
I could care less about those who take fentanyl...I do care about our officers and Emts that have to answer these calls. I wish this nation would stop enabling these addicts.
