Not so long ago, left-wing activists were dismissed as fringe or even kooky when they pressed for proposals to tax the superrich at 70 percent, to produce all of America’s power through renewable resources or to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Then along came Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — and her social-media megaphone.
In the two months since her election, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez has had the uncanny ability for a first-term member of Congress to push the debate inside the Democratic Party sharply to the left, forcing party leaders and 2020 presidential candidates to grapple with issues that some might otherwise prefer to avoid.

We allowed them to indoctrinate our young. The left has played the long game, and they are winning.
Americans are hell bent on getting themselves some of that good old socialism. They will get what they want, and then they’ll find that what the want isn’t what they thought it was. It will be too late at that point.

I wish I believed it was that simple. In the old days, we had to look for stupid, it wasn’t spoon fed to us in school. The schools actually taught hard science, critical thinking, things that are avoided today, in favor of leftist indoctrination.
Kids want socialism because it’s right, it’s fair, it’s virtuous. When they get to be 30, and life is kicking their butts, they won’t have the foundation to go back to something more rational. They’ll just get upset that the big benevolent nanny state isn’t doing enough for them.
Yeah, I know, pretty cynical, but that’s my nature.

I suspect one day, maybe soon, Democrats, via their media lackeys, will trash Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez. If not forcing her from office, shutting her up. They are not going to let her destroy the party without a fight.
