I used to work for Procter and Gamble. They were a global powerhouse that was known for their four M’s - Male, Military,Midwest, and Married. That was their idea of a stable strong employee. What did those four M’s do? They built a small soap-making operation into one of the largest consumer products companies in the world.
It is not like that now. Completely taken over by diversity whistle blowers and liberal women. I left with a nice severance package and never looked back.
P&G is still a good dividend payer . . . but they haven't had a stock split in 10 or 15 years. They may be the next Sears.
If they do go down, it will be with a full complement of cupcakes.
I retired from there too. They bought our company (Duracell) and started removing the local managers and replaced them with minorities and women, mostly black and mostly from up North. When they couldn’t handle the job they just rotated them to another plant. They replaced a lot of engineering employees with people from Pakistan. I was in leadership and had to take classes on controlling my facial expressions so that I would never let anger, etc. show on my face. All leadership and managers had to do it. We also had to take diversity classes. We had to handle trouble makers but weren’t allowed to ever raise our voice or appear angry. I finally started having stress issues and retired at 58 after 37 years of employment. Not worth it! We had issues with Gillette when they owned us, before P&G bought them out, but nothing like with P&G. I have good retirement benefits though.
My daughter is still there and thank goodness P&G sold Duracell and they are more or less running themselves again. I’m not as worried about her future now. Duracell was/is a good company, especially when it’s run by homegrown employees.
When I was in college (90’s) P&G recruited heavily at our college but wouldn’t even look at the male seniors. Never once saw them interview a man. They scooped up the female grads like crazy.
