"Proliferation of more rifles and pistols to the civilian population would law [draw or lead?] people year around to go to the shooting range.
Over time the average Israeli soldiers marksmanship would improve so much that we would be winning medals on the international competition arena for shooting."
Looks like a good argument there.

It’s a tactical issue. A bad guy who sees a citizen open carrying knows who to take out first.
A bad guy who knows there are citizens with CCW’s everywhere he goes will hesitate; dying in a hail of bullets is not his fondest wish.
Yeah, there are busybody liberals who call 911 on anyone open carrying hoping for a SWAT response. I would prefer to keep both bad guys and liberals guessing. Or are they the same?

I fired most of my life without safety glasses. We didn’t use them on Army ranges, either (late ‘80s and ‘90s). They would have gotten in the way during night moves, too (reflections, dirt, etc.).

It’s a tactical issue. A bad guy who sees a citizen open carrying knows who to take out first. False Premise.
Just does not happen.
Bad guys don't want armed victims. They want easy targets.
Concealed carriers are sometimes targeted by bad guys, because they do not see they are armed. A few get pounced and their guns stolen.
One concealed carrier had their gun stolen. They chased the bad guy, and got shot and killed.
I have not heard of that happening to an open carrier, but it could, of course.
Both situations are extremely rare.

What part of Israel is not a dangerous place to live?
It is a tiny country surounded by angry, savage muslims. For thousands of miles. Or the sea, for thousands of miles.

Any Jew who is in favor of a disarmed citizenry need look no further than Nazi Germany to see why it’s such a bad idea.

People everywhere have a God-given right to self defense.
Any government which seeks to abridge a God-given right is illegitimate.
I doubt if the founders of the US government would disagree.

I have not heard of that happening to an open carrier, but it could, of course. Darwin was gonna get the jumper some day; one way or another.

I eas awarded the U. S. Army Expert Qualification Badge with bars for M1 Rifle, M1 Carbine, and B. A. R.
What they cost me was loss of the ability to hear above 4,000 cycles per second, and degradation of the lower frequencies early on.
I wonder what would have happened if acoustic protection had been avilable and required then.

Most public ranges offer only target shooting. In a firefight, the drawbacks of careful aiming and composure needed for precision might likely get you killed.
Getting involved in some form of IPSC training might be better for self-protection.
