And what is the common denominator in nearly all of those dire predictions?...government dependence! This should be a lesson to everyone to stop expecting the government to provide everything “for free.”

WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!

Three weeks and people are getting along just fine without the federal government.

The shutdown isn’t the end of the world.

Maybe one of these days government workers will learn they shouldn’t line paycheck to paycheck.

This is great news. If the American Tax payers called out sick for a year the Left would all jump off of buildings.

Remember what they told flyover, industrial America?

“These jobs are gone for good and will not be coming back.”

“There is no reason for these rural areas without the industrial base, so consider moving away to the cities where life is good.”

“Take advantage of the leisure and write poetry, paint a landscape, learn to weave and make pottery.”

“You now have time to spend with your family.”

“Remember: you didn’t build that.”

“It’s ‘funemployment’.”

"38 million low-income Americans lose food stamps 6 million face an uncertain timetable for collecting tax refunds 2 million without rental assistance and facing possible eviction 800,000 paycheck-less federal employees plunged into dire financial straits Shuttered parks and museums while overstressed airports cause tourism to tank Federal court system slows to a crawl Disaster relief money doesn't get to storm-ravaged areas Lapsed FDA and EPA inspections lead to dangerous outbreaks Private companies looking to go public are stuck in limbo Stock market plummets"

The moral of the story is they should abide by the constitution. The federal government was never intended to be so large nor was it to be a welfare provider for poor people. Strip the government down and return all these unconstitutional undelegated functions to the states and the people. Oh, yeah, and dump the income tax.

So many of the incentives for illegal aliens to remain in the US will dry up.

I nearly spit out my afternoon tea hearing that word! Hellscape. Sounds like a Grade B, no D, schlock film title.

Dear Lord in Heaven, these MSM types are such drama queens!

The word Doomsday should be reserved for the actual day.

The govt shutdown is more on the level of squeezing skin blemishes.

The country would face an economic hellscape if the government shutdown lasts "months or even years," as the president has suggested it might, experts tell NBC News.

The shutdown could end in a heartbeat if so willed by the Democrats. It is only common sense that American citizens should be protected from crime and disease carried into our country by illegal aliens. The Democrats strongly supported a wall, so what is the issue for them? The amount of money is not really an issue either; we spend more on sugar subsidies.

Do the Democrats want to destroy our country? Do they believe in enforcing the laws? Why are they hurting themselves? Is their hate for Trump greater than their love of country and the people who elected them?

Why are Pelosi and Schumer putting us all at risk? Why do they want the killing to continue?

And here’s what to do. Private sector employees, keep working and take all of the work you can get. Bosses, hire more people, if you can. Consumers, make a few improvements at home.

Show them a greater Trump boom. Be cheerful. Spread the glee! ;-)

General history:

Gov has budget.
Problem comes up, gov has to raise budget.
Problem goes away, gov does not reduce budget, spends money on something else.
Repeat n-times.
Disaster strikes, gov raises budget - no money to be had.

ODE says ‘hellscape’ has been around since the early 20th century.

A rather apt description of a Great War, the War to End All Wars battleground.
