Indeed, I'd venture to say that BECAUSE we're surrounded by statists of every stripe - left and right - we possibly have a better appreciation for liberty and why it is important to fight for it when you've got it. Further, at the risk of sounding pompous, there are actually some pretty cool things in these areas: Manhattan and Boston are pretty awesome places, the diners in NJ are top-notch, and a drive I once took in San Luis Obispo along the coastline was one of the most beautiful drives I ever had.
I heard of people in the 1930s and 1940s in Nazi-occupied territories fighting the enemy, getting captured, and then upon escaping not running away but going BACK to their home and fighting. To be sure, we're not at that point in the US and I'm not putting us on the same level as those heroes...but I'd like to think that a few Deplorables in occupied territories probably have more impact on the margins than people think. Will our states go Red in 2020? Maybe not. But then nobody thought Trump could turn PA Red. Ya gotta believe.
Great Post!

Some people are so quick to judge and condemn others for not doing what they themselves think everyone should do.
Yes, there are circumstances beyond our control as for why we are still here and when the time comes to leave for redder pastures, I will not be taking ONE shred of liberal NY politics with me.
If I had my way, not only would the Constitution be fully upheld, but I’d eliminate the Dept of Education, all welfare programs, and all bail-out-the-corporations programs, just as a start. The wall would go up and corrupt politicians who have been caught in wrongdoing would be in jail and never permitted to hold office again.
There would be a flat tax (if any because income tax is unconstitutional) and the IRS would be eliminated.
