Davis, Calif. -- A rookie police officer died after being shot in northern California by a suspect who later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said. Davis Police Department officials said 22-year-old Officer Natalie Corona was shot after responding to a three-car traffic accident at about 6:45 p.m. Thursday in the community west of Sacramento.
Corona was rushed to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, where she later died.
CBS Sacramento reports Corona was sworn in as an officer just two weeks ago. She followed in the footsteps of her father, Merced Corona, who worked in law enforcement. She graduated from the police academy in July.
Following the shooting, police issued a citywide shelter in place order as officers searched for the suspect, who was later found in a house near the shooting after a brief standoff.

Not being told up front, especially in CA during these immigration-alian minded times, makes me suspicious as to the “nature” of perp.
Yeah, that’s him! Talk about a city doubling down on stupid! A couple of years back, Stockton went through bankruptcy, and somehow they managed to get out without addressing their huge pension debt despite the fact that the bankruptcy judge told them they could and should deal with it. Now they have elected this nitwit. Bankruptcy II is just around the corner as I see it.
As a dad I’d have told her to stay away from law enforcement, especially in this day and age.
My gosh as a kid being from foreign(poor at the time)parents we were told to shoot for the moon.

Probably a “disaffected illegal alien student!” It just wasn’t enough to give him “in-state tuition,” and free room and board. What he was looking for is undeserved grades.

I agree with you comments, and would add combat arms trades in the military. Things like infantry, combat engineers, arty etc are no place for women. Some can do it, but it’s a liability for the men and it’s morally wrong to knowingly put women into harms way.

Makes you wonder if the perp isn't a member of a protected, victim class. Otherwise, the identity of some low-life, cracker white boy would have been quickly dispersed to the news agencies.

I sometimes ask myself, where are the men? Is feminism chasing them out? Affirmative action choosing women over men? How did 100 women get elected to Congress? Where are all the men?
I’m not against women, just against putting women in because they are women. I do believe they can qualify, but when women are there because men won’t stand up, my heart is heavy.
The killer's name will be released, as always, once the police have been able to positively ID him and notify his next of kin.

If the perp was a white male we’d know about it now and how he had on a MAGA hat when taken.
