Hundreds of furloughed federal workers, contractors, union representatives and supporters gathered in the brisk wind and bitter cold Thursday to demand government leaders end this shutdown.
Leaders of the National Federation of Federal Employees said they hoped that bringing federal workers to the presidents doorstep would show him whom the shutdown has hurt most. President Trump, though, wasnt there to see them, having left earlier in the day to visit the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas.
We want to send a very strong message that this is not about politics, its about getting people back to work, said Brittany Holder, a spokeswoman for the NFFE and a protest organizer. A lot of the county thinks federal workers are all here in the D.C. area, but its only 15 percent. If youre living paycheck to paycheck to make ends meet, and suddenly the paychecks stop? People are feeling really stressed and anxious, and they want to know when this will end.
Protesters, who packed the street outside the AFL-CIO building on 16th Street NW, held signs that declared I want to go back to work, and Congress: Do your job so we can do ours. The protest came on the 20th day of a partial shutdown that has left nine federal departments and several agencies closed since Dec. 22.
The group began to march about 1:20 p.m. to the White House, calling on Trump to reopen the government with or without funding he has requested for a border wall.

I think he may do as you are suggesting.
The dems want a big government. Fed workers except for the executives are union. Union members pay union dues. Union leadership gives $s to lib politicians. Lib politcians make bigger government to hire more union members, to get more dues to get bigger donations... repeat as necessary.
People often say, like, How are you going to pay for it? And I find the question so puzzling, because, how do you pay for something thats more affordable? well, How do you pay for cheaper rent? just pay it! -AOC
Trump should threaten to replace them with lower waged illegals. Oooh, liberal heads would explode.
Go to congress with your demands; they’re the cause of it.
But it is our (Republicans) fault for not ramming the wall funding through when we had control, the way the RATs rammed through Obamacare.
March down the Mall to the Capitol. That’s where the roadblock is.
Oh, you’re union guys. So really just lib tools ...
At least 90% vote RAT.
We can live without them.
USA will spend 12 Billion dollars every day in 2019.
5.4 billion for a wall is less than 1/2 of a days spending.
CHUMP CHANGE
The concerned federal workers might want to have a serious talk with Nancy and Chuck.
Congress: Do your job so we can do ours.
This sign the “protesters” are carrying says it all....
I’m in favor of paying the 800.000 federal workers. In exchange, no member of Congress and their staffs will receive any pay until the shutdown is over. Nor will they get any travel and meal expenses, gymnasium expenses, or any other perk they so richly enjoy.
There are more important things than your job. Our country and its security is more important than your job, and by the way, you work for us. We, your bosses, are the ones who rightfully get to prioritize expenditures. Deal with it.
“Federal workers demand end to government shutdown at White House protest”
What is should say is “Non-essential Federal workers demand end to government shutdown at White House protest”
Why don’t you numbskulls give Cher a call? She seems to have a better handle on the situation than you do.
This is a far cry from the "government workers"only mentioned in the headline. Probably one worker and hundreds of feather merchants would be more appropriate.
Why aren’t they protesting in front of the Capital building? It takes two to tango. Oh, that’s right. Because the Federal Employees Union is an arm of the Democrat Party.
Mosey on down to the House, sports fans.
It’s so cute when leftists “demand”.
