Presidents should not be able to just declare national emergencies when they don’t get their way in order to do what they want. That’s not what is going on in this case ... but the liberals will paint it that way. Trump needs to make the case and get it done.

This article is mistaken when they talk about congress approving a wall.
Congress has already done that.
And, probably more than once, I haven’t bothered to check because it’s too depressing to actually note how many times our representatives have failed their oath of office, among other things.
That was my view by about 10 AM on 9/11/2001 - shut the border down, moratorium on immigration “legal” or otherwise, for 50 or 75 years. Let the people that are here assimilate, those that can, and deport the rest.

Organized groups of thousands, mostly young men, bringing a few women and children as human shields. They crossed multiple national borders to breach ours. That is an invasion.

Lots of conflicting claims about when the funding for EBT cards runs out, but end of February seems like a date that a lot of people are bringing up. I don't know myself, but when it does, the Dems may want to consider that quite a lot of recipients aren't on their side of the Wall issue to begin with and aren't going to be entirely rational when the cards are zeroed out. (That's the problem with creating a dependent population - they tend to get cranky when they aren't being served).
If they were smart they'd get whatever concessions they can from Trump and pass the thing, but they're not smart or they wouldn't be in this position. Stand by for a bumpy ride.
And a necessary step in the process. Groundwork, as was today’s meeting. He can show that he tried all other options before dropping the big one.
After he does, he can sign the bill to restart the gov’t and take credit for that too.
