Granted, it's early January. Even so, we have a strong candidate for 2019's most inane piece of political punditry.
On her MSNBC show Sunday morning, Joy Reid declared that a wall would not affect drug trafficking into the United States because:
"People who are drug traffickers can get on a plane and come."

Thanks for pointing out the obvious there, Joy. Bet the FBI will give you a medal or something.
I am becoming more and more convinced that we have our share of NPCs. She may be dumb, but have you guys ever heard of general aviation?
People who are drug traffickers can get on a plane and come.
[Dumb as a bag of hammers.]
There’s no reason to diss a bag of hammers.
;)
By comparing them to Joy Reid, I mean.
;)
I see helicopters sitting on the Mexican side waiting for their drop off, zipping up and over and unloading on the American side. I don’t know how this would be stopped.
I think everyone is aware that traffickers use mules in every capacity. Submarines, etc.
It is not a coherent argument against a wall to slow down the majority of illegal border jumpers.
In addition to the prolonged exposure to detection, no drug trafficker is going to hand hundreds of little patches through cracks in the fence.
Even Mexico would not like for it to be that obvious.
patches = packages
Yeah, you can carry so much in your luggage or on your person. Rolls eyes.
As it turns out, I’m a small-plane pilot. So yes, some planes can get across the border. But most are going to turn up on radar and be interdicted. There’s no way it can serve as an alternative to thousands of carriers coming on foot across the border.
I believe those could be shot down for violating American airspace, in the act of smuggling drugs.
Yes, and there’s also ships and boats at sea. Some are even submarines! But both general aviation planes and boats and ships coming into the country are highly scrutinized and tracked.
VERY risky to try. If they get too bold, chances are the President will move to have them shot down.
How’s the cartel’s life insurance policies?
Are Joy and all her buds just upset that Trump may somehow stop the flow of all their pot?

A wall would free up personnel and resources to go after that sort of thing more aggressively.
Surface to air missiles. Ready to launch. Border sensors that listen for unauthorized prop noise from Mexico. Bang—you’re dead!
What’s the U.S. equivalent of a ZSU-23? (No, not that disaster from the 1980’s....)
I’m thinking a quad .50 that was radar-guided.
Shame to lose the helo, but.....
Yeah, they can get on a plane, they just couldnt bring their drugs with them. DUH
