House Speaker Nancy Pelosi introduced legislation on Friday that would require the president and vice president and candidates for the presidency and vice presidency to release their tax returns.
The bill, however, would not require members of Congress or candidates for Congress to release their tax returns.
The provision is part of H.R. 1the For the People Actwhich Pelosi introduced Friday. A summary of the bill says that it includes a section titled Presidential Tax Transparency. [ ]
In 2017, when members of Congress were calling on President Donald Trump to release his tax returns, Roll Call asked all 535 members of the House and Senate to release theirs. As Roll Call reported at the time, 6 members did release their tax returns as requested by the publication. Another 6 had already released theirs elsewhere. Another 45 members, Roll Call reported, had previously and partially released their tax returns. But 473 members had not released their tax returns and did not respond to Roll Calls request that they do so.
Rep. Nancy Pelosi was one of the members, Roll Call reported, who had not released her tax returns.

We tax drones want to know how every public servant gets to be a multimillionaire while in office. President Trump made his millions before running for office. He has not accepted a dime of his salary, donating it to several veteran-help agencies. His real estate empire has lost money since he took office. No other office holder has profited less than he has from his service to the nation.
Yep, it drives me crazy. I use to drive a Yellow cab in New York city about 15 years ago and drove a lot of media people and you cannot believe how leftist they are. All of them, just ultra far far left and they would get really hostile if I put down the Clinton, just real major a-holes, all of them.
Amen. The Dems platform is not “America First” but rather attack Trump because he wasn’t supposed to win, consequences to average Americans be dammed.
If she thinks all those Democrats that want to run for President are going to want to release their tax returns, she’s truly delusional.
Their hated of Trump is so great, they aren’t even thinking that this law would apply to their candidate too. Imagine if this law in place and Hillary had to show her tax returns and those of the Clinton Foundation. The first new law would be to revoke the requirement to show tax returns.
Their maturity level is that of a 7 year old. They want rules that only allow them the upper hand by punishing the other side but they don’t want the same rules applied to themselves.
I guess that get this from how the laws are enforced now. If a democrat is good party standing commits a crime, no big deal. If anyone else commits a crime, the much be not only convicted, they much be destroyed in the process.
It's not a right to privacy that the President has, Pelosi said. He's the president of the United States. There is a question about a Russian connection, politically, personally, financially, to the president; there's concerns about recent actions by the Chinese government in relation to the Trump Organization."
This quotes illustrates perfectly how Pelosi and the Dems don't see them selves as pubic servants, but royalty above the average citizen.
Term limits. I think 20 minutes/term should suffice... in both houses.
How about one to force presidential candidates to reveal all their college, and citizenship records?
Releasing ones tax records would make no difference in who I vote for. If the guy had not paid his taxes - in full - the IRS would be all over him...and in Donald Trumps case (even long before he was elected) it would have been all over the news.
The dems, and mueller, just want the records to try and gin up some wrongdoing, in order to “impeach” him.
Hopefully, this bill will be DOA in the Senate.
they are assuming that Trump is as dirty as they are. One difference will be that he made his money as a private citizen while most of them made theirs's as public servants.
Now, if they want to implement a formal mechanism for verification of the two existing requirements, I'd be all over that.
Funny how Pelosi never thought of such a thing ten years ago, last time she was Speaker.
How about one to force presidential candidates to reveal all their college, and citizenship records?
Unconstitutional.
POTUS must force immediate release of all information about all congresscritters that paid $$$ to personal misbehavior claims.
Not just add Congress but release passport files, military record, medical record, credit reports and school records.
Now were talking real vetting of candidates. Oh. And random drug testing. Make them do what job and mortgage applicants must do.
Watch the Bronx Pauper AOC turn into a millionaire right before your very eyes.
It’s been said that the members of the U.S. House of Reprsentatives most accurately reflect the character and thinking of the citizens of America. God help us if this is so.
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States."Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
Brains are vastly over rated.
The current House of Representatives limit of 435 is based on the census of 1910 when the population was 92,228,496. The result of the 2010 census was 308,745,538, a 235% increase in the last 100 years.
The House is too small to "reflect the character and thinking of the citizens of America," which is why we've seen recent splits in the Electoral College and the so-called "popular vote" for President.
If we increase the size of the House to reflect the current population, the Electoral College will grow proportionally and we won't see such dramatic splits between the popular vote and EC vote, because these "unrepresented" popular votes will now be accounted for in the Electoral College.

Bill of Attainder. Unconstitutional on its face. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
