Want to crowdsource Donald Trump's border wall? Glenn Grothman has a bill for that.
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ^ | 4 Jan 2019 | Bill Glauber

On Friday, the Republican from Glenbeulah (Rep. Glenn Grothman) threw out a plan to get President Donald Trump's proposed border wall built. Let the American people crowdsource the project. Grothman's office said he introduced "The People’s Border Wall Fund Act," enabling Americans to "personally fund the construction of a wall on the Southern border." With Democrats in charge of the House, it's unlikely that the bill will go anywhere.

According to a news release, Grothman's measure "would create an account within the Department of Treasury that would allow public donations (to) be used for the design, construction and maintenance of a border wall."

Is there something wrong with the GoFundMe drive?

Nope. This is just a "pile on". The Pelosi House will never take up such a bill -- which is tantamount to denying the will of the People (for which the GoFundMe campaign is *significant* supporting evidence). Optics. We must allow our domestic enemies to look every bit as evil in public as they truly are.

There is a bill that would have the Treasury issue Border Wall bonds. I would hope they will pay 3% tax free income.
Such bonds would allow people to buy $10,000 of bonds for retirement. I can see this being so popular it could pay for the wall.

Congress must authorize it. They have not yet. This is the second proposal. HR 7207 last month was the first.

If it is not part of the President’s deal with Congress, it is unlikely to be approved separately.

I chipped in $100. When it gets to $30,000,000 I’ll chip in another.

There are some ways they could use the private money and that would be on private land in conjunction with the government design.

“they could use the private money ...on private land in conjunction with the government design.”

That is true, with the permission of the landowner. People can build walls and fences on their own property.

The President said that they are already far down the road of acquiring right of way/exercising eminent domain - that they have front loaded that effort.

They did a comprehensive analysis shortly after the inauguration, and Congress received the completed plan early in 2018 - so the route has probably been finalized at least since then.

I don’t know this guy Grothman, so I can’t comment on his performance as a Republican Congressman, but this kind of time-wasting bull$hit is very disturbing. the Republican-”led” House didn’t do jack $hit about doing what President Trump needed done, and the Republican-”led” Senate was even more shameless in it’s conscious thwarting of the White House’s agenda. Now these peckerheads grandstand with this nonsense. There is no way to fix the country of we don’t get rid of most of the “Republicans!”

This may all be overtaken by events, if the President declares an emergency, and gets DoD and FEMA to take money out of hide now and build the wall.

It looks like things are moving strongly to prepare that right now - meetings tomorrow at Camp David and Monday in the Pentagon.

A Democratic Congressman on the Armed Services Committee dropped a number of $20 billion, that the Administration might be considering to take fro DoD - 1,000 times the GoFundMe amount.

If true, we are off to the races building border barrier - and Democrats will have political cover that they did not vote for it (they can just refund DoD next year, after it blows over).

“A Democratic Congressman on the Armed Services Committee dropped a number of $20 billion, that the Administration might be considering to take from DoD “

I think the RATs have more than met their match with President Trump. What is so distressing to me, is that at 78 years of age, I can honestly say that the only other president in my lifetime that was worthy of the office, was Ronald Reagan. And that as wonderful a man as he was, he’s no match, in terms of the will to accomplish what is needed, for President Trump. Furthermore, I’ve never been shown what a worthless pile of $hit this nation has for elected officials by and large. Out of 535 of them in the Congress, I doubt that there are any more than a couple of dozen, at best, who are honestly trying to improve our country for everyone.

While is support the GoFundMe drive, and likely even this new notion, I have a good deal of trouble coming to grips with the fact that OUR OWN ELECTED GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVE DO NOT RECOGNIZE THEIR LEGAL, ETHICAL, AND MORAL OBLIGATION TO PROTECT THE AMERICAN CITIZENRY.
If they refuse to perform within the terms of their oath, they should be IMMEDIATELY removed from office...maybe forcefully.
This crap has got to stop. One way or another.

Sadly after Trump the cancer will be back in full force. The damage prior rat presidents (obama and Clinton) and their criminal operatives have done over the years, appointing, and or hiring employees burying them throughout the agencies loyal to their agenda and working tirelessly to disrupt and destroy make it almost impossible without a cleaning out entirely. And most disturbing of all thier positions aside from the appointed ones are protected by the unions of coarse devised by the rats

The GoFundMe drive is having effects...some now want it in the government’s coffers where we have no real idea of how much is already collected and whether any is being diverted...I like the GoFundMe way better for now...

AH! That's what's wrong with the GoFundMe account! The money isn't under government control!

Silly me for not seeing that!

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it....just like the Dem used to support many billions for “border security” w/o ever spending anything on it - I bet they slush-funded many of those billions and now some supposed Repub wants to follow suit.
