Frankly, I'm surprised the Chamber of Commerce doesn't get behind this wall in a very public way. The effectiveness of the wall is limited anyway (it does nothing to stop millions of people here on expired visas, for example), and they can easily trade their support for the wall for something else they really want like expanded H1-B visas.
I think there's something else going on here that has nothing to do with the wall. That's why the GOP and Trump waited until the final days of the last session of Congress to go through that whole charade.
> “The effectiveness of the wall is limited anyway”
No. The history of the San Diego Wall, which is never broadcast in the MSM, shows that their wall is 99% effective. Border Patrol Officers there swear by it and say it allows them to focus on the few that get through. It reduces their workload very substantially.
“McConnell took reconciliation off the table for one important reason: It enabled him to hide the embarrassing reality that he didn’t even have 50 votes for the House bill — let alone 60.”
That makes sense, unfortunately. Trump should have insisted anyway, letting the chips fall where they may. Get the traitors on record.
But I get it. McConnell protects the Senate. No matter what. He would have penalized Trump later, in a backstabbing move. It’s what he does.
A$$hat.
He’s up for election again in 2020. Maybe...
