Just saw on local news that Mike Pompeo would be a good choice.
Likely goes Dem in 2020.

TRUMP AND PENCE R 137,490 46.73%
CLINTON AND KAINE D 129,852 44.14%
Wyandotte County 2016 (Final From Politico KS Counties)
CLINTON AND KAINE D 29,346 61.08%
TRUMP AND PENCE R 15,520 32.70%
Johnson & Wyandotte CLINTON AND KAINE 159,198
TRUMP AND PENCE 153,010
Winning difference 6,188
6188 / 312,208 = .019 1.9%
Trump won Johnson in 2016 and Clinton won Wyandotte.
Less than 2% does not strike me as highly unpopular, but opinions change in 2 years.
Other factors affecting 2018 would be the unpopularity of Kris Kovac and Sam Brownback, and the midterm effect. No, I don’t think he was particularly forceful.
**Kansas 3rd includes PART of Miami county. You were only talking about Johnson and Wyandotte, I didn’t include it in the totals or try to break out the results from Kansas 3. Included to be complete.
Miami County 2016 (Final From Politico KS Counties)
TRUMP AND PENCE R 9,839 66.9%
CLINTON AND KAINE D 3,949 26.8%
There are reports that Matt Schlapp of the American Conservative Union will seek Pat Roberts’ vacated Senate seat in 2020. He’s from Witchita.
Roberts is a good Senator who doesn’t deserve needless derision like he’s Bob Corker or something.
But he absolutely had to retire, for one reason, he’s very old and Kansas has a rat Governor now, him dying in office is not acceptable.
