There is considerable skepticism among Democratic leaders, and even some of Mr. Bloombergs close allies, that he will actually pursue the presidency, because he has entertained the idea fruitlessly several times before, and shown little appetite for the rough-and-tumble tactics of traditional partisan politics. A campaign would require him to yield his imperial stature as a donor and philanthropist, and enter a tumultuous political and cultural climate that could make him a highly incongruous candidate for the Democratic nomination.
Though he has received a heros welcome from Democrats for his role in the midterms, Mr. Bloomberg is plainly an uncomfortable match for a progressive coalition passionately animated by concern for economic inequality and the civil rights of women and minorities. In the interview Friday his first extended comments on his thinking about a 2020 presidential run Mr. Bloomberg expressed stubbornly contrary views on those fronts. He criticized liberal Democrats attitude toward big business, endorsing certain financial regulations but singling out a proposal by Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts to break up Wall Street banks as wrongheaded. He also defended his mayoral administrations policy of stopping people on the street to search them for guns, a police tactic that predominantly affected black and Latino men, as a necessary expedient against crime.
And while Mr. Bloomberg expressed concern about allegations of sexual misconduct that have arisen in the last year, he also voiced doubt about some of them and said only a court could determine their veracity.

Bloomberg is reportedly worth $50b. He has been cleaning house at Bloomberg LP, reportedly in preparation to sell the business. I expect he will spend at least $10b, if necessary in 2020. What that buys in media and GOTV terms should be a sight to behold. Can he win the Democratic the way he won the NY mayoralty, by paying for endorsements? It will be interesting to see if he becomes the first presidential candidate to crack $1b in spending during the primary process.
No worries. A true democrat is always ready and willing to prostitute out his views and morals for advancement.
Will he be the 1st openly queer president?
Eyes on the prize. Now or never?
Bloomy doesn’t want to drop a cool billion just to be a spoiler in the Ross Perot role.
“He also defended his mayoral administrations policy of stopping people on the street to search them for guns, a police tactic that predominantly affected black and Latino men”
Yeah, it “affected black and Latino men” by saving their lives, something the NY Times attaches no importance to compared to their SJW victim Olympics agenda!
Hmmm. Guess new lower barricades will be needed so he can see over them?
LOL. It would be just great to have him flood the field with money and, hopefully, actually win the nomination. All the radical Communists and people of color who think its “their turn” would be outraged. A rich white guy took their place. And if he loses, he’ll have blown a couple hundred million that he otherwise would have spent on gun control. So to me, this is a real “win win.”
He won’t run, he doesn’t have the Chutzpa to handle the an*l exam he would get from the other Dem employed op research folks. Remember, the dossier was a Dem paid for hit piece, he’s next.
He was always a rat
Inadvertently pasted a chunk of NYT promotional blurb, so here’s a little more excerpt, for anyone interested, about Bloomberg’s skepticism re the #MeToo and #BelieveHer movements, as pertains to Charlie Rose:
[The stuff I read about is disgraceful I dont know how true all of it is, Mr. Bloomberg said of the #MeToo movement. Raising Mr. Rose unprompted, he said: We never had a complaint, whatsoever, and when I read some of the stuff, I was surprised]
NYT decoder ring: “Run as a Republican so the Democrats don’t have to spend money fighting you”
The man might out him as a old white guy.
He spends $10B he will lose $10B. No way will he win. I lived under this jackass when he was Mayor, and it was like living in a mini North Korea except with food, but only food the Dear Leader Bloomberg allowed you to eat. There’s too many people this guy reamed over for him to win, all the small businesses he fined into bankruptcy. A friend of mine owned a small newstand/stationary store, and once a month Herr Bloombergs brownshirt “inspectors” would come in an fine the crap out of him for the most mundane garbage, like cash register display not 7”from the counter, cigarette display not the correct distance, all $1000 fines and the guy made peanuts as it is.
I remember one time he had his brownshirts fining hotdog stand vendors $1000 if they did not produce their license immediately, the guy actually put a time limit on it. What was the time limit? 2 seconds? The NY Post did a story on it. And then the nanny state crap, F you pal I’ll eat and drink what I want.
Just before I moved he wanted landlords to submit a list to the city of all their tenants who smoke. For what? Was he going to arrest them? The guy was out of control. Oh yes, and every parade, every special event The Dear Leader Bloomturd had to be front and center. Yankees win the World series, he had to be in the front car waving to people, this after the Dear Leader did away with term limits because Emperors must rule forever.
The guy was an immense brat, I remember one time he banned motor scooters claiming it caused global warming. Motor scooters, not trucks or cars, motor scooters. So then people started using electric ones and out of spite he banned those too. And then the congestion pricing. He wanted to charge cars if they drove below 96th street to reduce traffice but the city council turned him down. So out of spite he cut all the streets in half with bike and bus lanes making traffic a million times worse, he even closed entire streets permanently. Trump will destroy him with all that info, and BTW by 2020 Bloomturd will be almost 80. So if he does two terms we’re going to have a POTUS who is almost 90.
Oops...not white.
Today’s Democrat party is not particularly fond of old white guys. So my advice to Bloomie: Self-identify as an Hispanic woman. And don’t waste any time. Start today.
P.S. Don’t agree to any DNA tests. Remember what happened to Liz Warren.
Hey, it almost worked for Beto O'Rourke.
Let’s go down the first four primary/caucus states. He doesn’t have the Iowa ‘friendly’ nature required. No win there. NH? NO, that’s pretty much guaranteed for Warren. South Carolina? No...southerners won’t be attracted to the guy? Nevada? Maybe. That doesn’t sit well for him to invest big money and only have one single primary from the four.
I pray he runs. Nothing would do more to make Jewish liberals face up to the rabid anti-Semitism within their own party. Bloomberg is a typical non religious New York Jewish liberal. When the radicals start calling him anti-semitic names, they won’t be able to dismiss it by saying that he’s some kind of right wing Likudnik. All of these apostates who think being Jewish means eating bagels at Zabar’s and going to Woody Allen movies will see how much their fellow leftists despise them for their Jewish blood.
....see if he has to explain his 3 aircraft, several boats and 13 properties...
