As reported here on Townhall by my boss Matt, President Trump made a special appearance this evening in the White House briefing room where he congratulated Nancy Pelosi on becoming Speaker of The House while also speaking to his main point of urging Democrats to support and fund the wall.
Trump yet again stated that without a wall, you couldn't have a secure U.S. and Mexico border. President Trump brought different voices to the table by having former, and current border patrol agents there to speak to why a wall is non-negotiable.
"Without a wall you can not have border security," Trump stated, after statements from border patrol officers.
"Without a very strong form of barrier, call it what you will, but without a wall you can't have border security it won't work," Trump added.

I can personally tell you, from the work that I have done on the southwest border, that physical barriers, that walls, actually work. pic.twitter.com/iMiD4eAMns Kyle Morris (@RealKyleMorris) January 3, 2019

The mainstream media and especially the folks over at CNN freaked out over President Trump not only taking the podium, but became furious by the fact he took zero questions from the press.
CNN White House reporter, Kaitlan Collins, was mainly triggered by President Trump not answering questions.
She wrote on Twitter, "Its not a press briefing if you dont take questions." She was also heard yelling in the background regarding the matter of not answering questions while President Trump and this team was exiting the briefing room.

Brian Stelter, yet again of CNN, also became triggered over President Trump taking no questions after the briefing concluded:
The @PressSec announced a "briefing," but did not hold one. Trump spoke, but left without taking any Q's. A reporter shouted: "Sarah, are you coming back? Are you not taking any questions at all?" She didn't. Brian Stelter (@brianstelter) January 3, 2019
And more outrage from CNN reporters over the briefing came later:
President Trump leaves briefing room without taking questions -- making it crystal clear that it was a political dog-and-pony show, rather than an attempt to answer questions about opening the government. This afternoon President Trump tweeted this video stressing the importance of building a wall:

Explain, again, why the White House bothers with these people.
The education majors had that kind of reputation back in the early 70’s when I was in college and the education major at a state college that was supposed to excel in education was considered the dummy degree, for people who could not make the cut in a real field.
thank you...
I’m praying that President Trump finally takes full control of all future interaction between spokespersons for his Administration and the hostile anti-Trump press. It’s way past time to put the presstitutes permanently on the defensive.
“Its not a press briefing if you dont take questions.”
It’s also NOT a press briefing if ‘reporters’ make 5 minute attack statements before even getting to their question.
So it seems like a reasonable compromise to me. No 5 minute attack statements in exchange for no questions.
What I heard was:
“The point of the briefing room is to take questions!”
But in fact “to brief” means to give someone essential information, short and sweet. So the point of the briefing room is to brief these jackals, and that he did. If they want to ask questions maybe they should head for the questioning room.
Asking embarrassing and incriminating questions is an art form, and the media hacks are masters at doing it. Trump put muzzles on all of them, and like all vicious dogs, they ran off foaming at the mouth! Beautiful!
Boo hoo. Fake newsers can’t handle a briefing without questions.
They don’t want to talk about the content of his words, so they focus on this instead.
Trump took press questions yesterday for about 30 minutes
The government’s shut down. They did the press a favor by showing up for work, but couldn’t do the full briefing as it wasn’t funded. Sorry for the inconvenience. /s
Paw Patrol is GREAT! My nephew got me hooked..Rubble is my fav..RUBBLE ON THE DOUBLE!
They don’t even know the meaning of NEWS either!
What do you expect from a “network” who gave Hillary Clinton the debate questions in advance..because they knew what an absolute MORON she is, otherwise why give it to her
Fun to watch.
Oh yeah. Like when. during the campaign, Trump invited the press to his hotel in D.C. (I think) for a press conference about his conclusion of the birther issue. He gave a statement and then left. That was hilarious.
Our Dept got funded.
Bummer.
So we got to work for pay.
Previous shutdowns, we were told to go home.
It was great!
Loved it!
.1. Time off without deducting from our annual leave hours.
.2. Got paid in full after we came back.
Cr*p....wish I was one of those “laid off”...been having to work to get paid...those other govt employees are off and they will get paid.
Sucks....I wanted the “vacation” w/pay they call “furlough”.
It was called a briefing, not a conference or a Q&A session correct?
Briefings are generally for providing instruction or conveying a specific point whereas a conference is more participatory where it is much more likely a Q&A would follow that might be be about more than one specific point.
These people are so entitled that they think their conflations of terms affords them the high ground on any and all points.
Methinks these people need to learn some etiquette and grammar as well as just plain ‘ol literacy.
We have entered the twilight zone!

BRIEFING
A briefing is a type of meeting where the attendees receive information on a particular subject or a procedure. They are simply given data and are expected to understand and take the new information on board. They may be able to ask questions at the end, but this would only be to ensure their understanding of the brief in question. Please note that the word briefing derives from brief the noun, which is a set of instructions given to a person about a specific job or task. This is also linked to the verb to brief, which means to instruct or inform someone thoroughly.

CONFERENCE
A conference is a participatory meeting, which is generally designed for discussion, problem solving, fact-finding and consultation. Conferences are usually limited in duration and tend to have specific objectives, they refer to seminars or symposiums.
As the word suggests, this is a type of meeting where people confer about a topic, and the speakers would generally be selected before the meeting takes place. There are many different types of conferences, they would all have the same concept but would be arranged to discuss topics in different situations. For example, an academic conference would be where researchers present results, hold workshops or do presentations. Other examples include business conferences, news conferences, settlement conferences, or sports conferences. Conferences are most commonly held in academic, news and information exchange situations, and generally, they have a formal programme with various speakers. These types of meetings would usually be organised by one person or representative.

“Jeff, I worked for the federal government and I experienced shutdown situations. Federal employees are fine during this time.”
I also worked for the federal government as a pharmacist and was considered “essential personnel.” I was required to work as I should be. I worked for no pay but knew full well that when the government reopened I would get all my back pay. I had no problems with this. My duty was to the patients.
The unspoken secret is the non essential personnel welcome these shut downs. They go home and sit on their asses and also get back pay for the time they DID NOT WORK! They love government shutdowns.
The law should be changed on this. All workers should be considered essential and thus work. They will get their back pay.
Let’s help Trump bust Comcast and prevent ATT from acquiring CNN.
We must stop vertical ownership of infrastructure and content.
