Apologies - I reread your post, and maybe I misunderstood your point about single parents meeting likeminded single parents through Scouting.
When you mentioned dating, it sounded as if you were suggesting the BSA encourage a singles-dating culture in Scouting. But, you probably meant that Scouting is a way for parents to become friends. And that’s a valid point. Best of luck! And thanks for all you do.
Online dating is on the wane. Too many crazies and deceit. Scouting is a way for parents to get together with other parents with kids the same age to socialize a little.
I see it all the time. Not a lot of opportunities for these folks to meet face to face any more.
Point of reference: I was a married mom. Every boy in the troop had happily married parents (as far as I could tell).
Then suddenly I was a divorced mom. Awkward enough, being the only parent without a mate. If the troop (or pack) had had a single parents-dating type of thing happening, it would’ve been even more uncomfortable.
With that said, congrats on meeting someone nice. Unfortunately, not every adult can keep the drama away from the kids. Just my 2 cents.
Have a good weekend.
