Former President Carter on Monday urged the U.S. and Chinese governments to find areas of common concern and improve relations heading into the new year.
Carter, who signed accords in 1979 normalizing relations with China, cautioned that the ongoing trade dispute between the two countries or hostilities over elections should not get in the way of productive collaboration on other areas of global concern.
