Look, I have to certify that I am a USA resident able to work in the USA. If I have to do it in order to be able to work, the illegals must do it too. Oh yeah, then they won't be able to work here legally - TA DA!

Not sure this could be done w/o Congressional action.

E-Verify bothers me a lot. Short term, it will help control illegal immigration. Long-term, it becomes a mighty weapon of the deep state.

If they can’t work, there is no reason for them to come here. We wouldn’t even need a wall if employers could verify the legal status of their employees. Up until now it’s been considered “discriminatory”.

E-Verify needs to do MORE than simply confirm that a presented name & SSN “match” and belong to anon-deceased individual.. It needs to ALERT Homeland Security if the presented SSN appears to be in use in multiple locations and employers simultaneously BY DIFFERENT INDIVIDUALS. Illegal Aliens engage in a lot of stolen identity FRAUD!

CATCH & DEPORT! And make their fraud exclude them from ever entering the country legally in the future.

If they actively pursued illegal employment of illegal aliens the arrest rate would go up 7000%

This will immediately be challenged before a Lib-shopped judge that will put a nation-wide hold on it.

We might, might get an E-verify law by 2020. And what we get will be watered down so much by the Uniparty as to be almost useless.

Better enforcement of e-verify - yes, but don’t most illegals come here to “not work”? As long as there is free health, care, education, welfare etc. they will keep coming.

An E.O. Is DOA as a court will block before the ink is dry. Congress needs to legislatively mandate use. Tired of the E.O. That amoun to grandstanding and accomplish nothing once taken to a court.

This is even better than a wall, assuming Commie judges don't stall it.

If they can't work or get gov't freebies, they'll go home.

Way too many REPUBLICANS oppose E-Verify as it cuts off their Illegal labor pipeline.

Most of the efforts to slow illegal immigration have been supply side solutions. Time to use some demand side solutions. Make E-verify mandatory for all private and public employment.

California doesn’t require employers to do anything with E-verify.

I know people working labor enforcement, and they don’t have any requirement to discuss or educate employers about E-verify.

Not even informational literature.

All of the state agencies pretend E-verify doesn’t exist.

When US DOL talks E-verify, CA government workers are told to ignore everything related to E-verify.

It’s criminal.

DOJ could prosecute thousands of California employers tomorrow, if state turned over all employers who were reporting worker wages who had bogus SSN’s.

There are tens of thousands of California employers, reporting wages for workers who have known bogus SSN’s.

California knows the SSN’s are bogus, they have to be flagged in the unemployment insurance system, to prevent bogus unemployment insurance claims.

But they NEVER, turn that info over to USDOL, or Social Security Administration.

California doesn’t give a damn.

They do nothing.

I’m sure the voter registration process is 1000x more corrupt!

So criminal.

Mandatory, nationwide E-Verify should have been one of the first acts of the last Congress, and signed immediately into law by Trump. It’s not going to happen now with a Democratic House - the GOP squandered its control of Congress in the last two years. Guys like Paul Ryan are a disgrace.

I am pretty certain that E-Verify has been around for many years-—open & usable by the American employers.

It was not put in place JUST TO CHECK on Federal employees.

Someone is twisting this completely.

The I-9 paper form has been in existence for a VERY LONG TIME. I have done payrolls for over 40 years, I had to have prospective employees fill out that form & prove with proper ID their identity.

I literally could NOT hire MY MOTHER if she couldn’t complete an I-9 correctly & provide correct ID.

The facts stated here by this author are lacking truth.
