...he presided over some of the Trump administrations most controversial immigration and security policies.
In the phone interview Friday, Kelly defended his rocky tenure, arguing that it is best measured by what the president did not do when Kelly was at his side.
It was only after Kellys departure was confirmed Dec. 8, for example, that Trump abruptly announced the pullout of all U.S. troops from Syria and half the 14,000 troops from Afghanistan, two moves that Kelly had opposed.
Kellys supporters say he stepped in to block or divert the president on dozens of matters large and small. They credit him, in part, for persuading Trump not to pull U.S. forces out of South Korea, or withdraw from NATO, as he had threatened.

Its never been: The president just wants to make a decision based on no knowledge and ignorance, Kelly said. You may not like his decision, but at least he was fully informed on the impact.
Kelly allowed that spending nearly every waking minute of 15-hour days with a president seemingly inundated with one crisis after another has been a bone-crushing hard job, but you do it.
Im guarded by the Secret Service. I cant even go get a beer, he quipped.
Trump sometimes pressed his advisors on the limits of his authority under the law, often asking Kelly, Why cant we do it this way?
But Trump never ordered him to do anything illegal, Kelly stressed, because we wouldnt have.
If he had said to me, Do it, or youre fired, Kelly said he would have resigned.
I told the president the last thing in my view that you need in the chief of staff is someone that looks at every issue through a political lens, Kelly said.

Disloyal whiner.
For not looking through a political lens, he sure is playing politics with his departure.
Now, it just seems to be a free-for-all, said Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I). Theres no real consistent figure thats going to stand there and just make sure literally the trains run on time. I think that was one of Kellys major contributions.
i.e. We lost our guy on the inside.
These Generals are a bunch of pussies.
Outgoing White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly defends his rocky tenure
—
And why is it a “rocky tenure”? Because a douche reporter says it is, without evidence.
I wonder who called who. Did the LAT pursue Kelly or was it the other way around. I used to think Kelly was a great guy but after this it seems he just wants to bash the President like all other liberals. Sad.
“These Generals are a bunch of pussies.”
Their biggest problem is that they are not used to taking orders from anyone. For me, Trump has opened my eyes as to just exactly who too many of our “military leaders” really are. We’ve had a pile of $hit at the top of our chain of command for far too long. The shining example is this feckless turd, Rear Admiral John Kirby. How this political a$$hole ever became a flag officer escapes me. Reading his service record, you realize that he’s been nothing more than a flak for his entire career, and yet he’s been promoted to be a Rear Admiral.
Bottom line: Anyone who serves in the Trump administration has the wrath and degradations of the globalists in the Media and the Swamp hurled upon them. The globalists are doing all they can, especially using the Mueller investigation, to keep Trump off balance politically. Otherwise Trump would follow his instincts and extricate the United States from the costly foreign entanglements so dear to the one world/one government globalists. The sacrifices of American blood and treasure have done nothing to enhance the security of the American people. Instead needless, bitter enemies have been created far from our shores. If the globalists ultimately triumph, American sovereignty and distinctiveness will come to an end.
I never liked or trusted him, McMaster, Tillerson, Mattis, Gary Cohn, Dina Powell, etc.
Lots of Democrat Deep Staters—I’m glad they’re gone. Plenty more to go, too.
It’s tough to find experience that isn’t betraying him, but I wish he weren’t still bringing more swamp creatures into his admin:

Let us hope that Trump can now surround himself with LIKEMINDED and supportive people. I am truly fed up with the Obama Military people running the Trump Admin like Obama was still in our WH.
They were all political hacks. What he needs is some good E7
Understand please that all the current general officers received their 3rd and 4th star under Obama. And at that level it is all politics.
Its the seriousness of the charge put to headline.
Its gotta be true. /s
Geesh, from inside the DC bubble they know so much about America. /s
Just another chance for the MSM to print their usual litany of "Trump is so unstable and out of control" BS.
Yes.
A chief knows his business and knows how to lead men.
He also knows who the boss is. These generals all think they are god with tender egos.

Good boy. You served the resistance well. Have a cookie.
The “interview” was definitely skewed to make it sound like Kelly was bashing Trump - too many leftist “tells” in the statements to be sure if the article has any real relevance to anything.
Troops are trained, they dine and shake hands with the senior Flag Officers worldwide, and money keeps rolling in from Congress and the Defense establishment.
Not a bad strategy if you are a senior military commander or a member of the SASC or HASC wouldn't you say?
Lol! You are so right. He needs an E7, E8 or E9 Ops Chief in there. They know how to get stuff done and how to crush the higher ranking opposition! Unfortunately a good Chief wouldn’t long put up what the whining mobs. (Full disclosure: I did that job in my last two squadrons :-)
