The Department of Defense on Friday tweeted about the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Syria, saying that it's carefully planned and organized.
The department described the course of action as being deliberate, well thought-out, mutually supportive, and controlled, while also guaranteeing our troops safety and protection.

afghanistan, iraq, niger - all these bullshit shithole countries. our guys out NOW.
HOORAY President Donald J. Trump!
Ok, does anyone else think it’s weird that we now have the Department of Defense sending out tweets?
I’m all for pulling out but what’s our plan for protecting the Kurds?
I was on submarines in the 70s. We got 5 family grams during a 10-12 week patrol (25 words or less). No way to send anything. Jump forward to the 90s, my son was on a carrier in the Indian Ocean on an op called Southern Watch. We could almost communicate in real time. Im still absorbing that. I dont know how much better it is now. DOD tweeting is weird to me. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?
I dont believe the Syrian Kurds are the same as the Iraqui Kurds.
We are not deserting them, we are going to cover them from the air. I know the Turks have been fighting a group of mostly communist Kurds in parts od Turkey who are fighting for independence.
Look back over the past seventy years, we'll do the same thing this time.
We'll wail and gnash our teeth then set up some charities that pass 10 cents on every dollar they get through to the poor Kurds.
“Ok, does anyone else think its weird that we now have the Department of Defense sending out tweets?”
NO, Mattis is gone and those left in charge understand the marching orders from the President! Just hope it catches on elsewhere in government and the messages are complimentary, indicating that the administration has an integrated strategy, and not just a collection of independent operators. Now if we could only drive the “career diplomats” out of the State Department.
Well put, although I'd quibble that Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq have long since ceased to be countries, they aren't even "tribes with flags" any longer.
Fortunately the Kurds aren't waiting for any Pentagon stooges to come up with a plan, and they've cut a deal with the Syrian government. Its about time.
We have really jumped into “Beyond Twilight Zone” now with Democrats linking arms with the neocons!
Anyone who thought the actual announcement was a spur of the moment deal ain’t been paying attention...
Related in Nigeria. Boko Haram (IS-affiliated) just overran and took two posts there.
Ping. Thought you might be interested in some good news for a change. Not all is as it appears during international times of tension. :-)
...The group's official name is Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda'awati wal-Jihad, which in Arabic means "People Committed to the Propagation of the Prophet's Teachings and Jihad"... But residents in the north-eastern city of Maiduguri, where the group had its headquarters, dubbed it Boko Haram. Loosely translated from the region's Hausa language, this means "Western education is forbidden"... It draws its fighters mainly from the Kanuri ethnic group, which is the largest in the three states. Most Kanuris have distinctive facial scars and when added to their heavy Hausa accents, they are easily identifiable to others Nigerians. As a result, the militants operate mainly in the north-east, where the terrain is also familiar to them... by March 2015, Boko Haram had lost all the towns under its control as a regional coalition - made up of troops from Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger - was formed to fight it. Once again, Boko Haram retreated to the Sambisa forest, where the Nigerian military pursued it, freeing hundreds of captives...
