That all goes to their basic belief that government can be benevolent and not self-serving. And that therefore they can be trusted to carry out “common sense regulation”.

Yeah. RIIIIIIGHT.

Anyone who actually read the article may come away with sentiments different from those espoused.

Here is the money paragraph:

The club also serves as an escape from some less-than-tolerant anti-gun left-wingers. Pattie, Sean, and Keith all said they'd faced more backlash from the average liberal who found out they owned guns than from gun owners who found out they were liberals. In Pattie's case, she said gun owners tended to be far more tolerant of her being gay than liberals are of her being a gun owner.

Didja get that? Right wing "haters" are more open to a gay gunner than leftist brethren. That means these folks are outcasts who need to be given direction.

This is EXACTLY the type of ripple in the Blue Wall akin to #WalkAway that MUST be acted upon. The numbers are clear - in order to avoid a Trump loss in 2020 and to keep the MAGA train moving, we need MORE like-minded folk...and we sure won't get them from Planned Parenthoood.

I get it: these people may be wolves in sheep's clothing. They probably have no problem with illegals. They likely shop at Whole Foods, order through Alexa, get coffee at Starbucks, and like Katy Perry. Understood.

But Trump won by 78k votes. That was WAAAAY too close. The midterms should have taught us that we need to EXPAND the quantum of Deplorables, to red-pill fellow citizens on the bubble so that THEY can see the benefits of freedom and liberty and the dangers of statism.

The people in this article don't have to be worked-over from a philosophical perspective...consider this:

"Root-cause mitigation is the idea that it's not a gun violence problem, it's a violence problem," she said. "If we're going to solve the problem we need to look at what's causing the violence overall. Two-thirds of gun deaths are suicides. What's causing that?" ... "If we want to solve the problems, a gun ban is not going to do anything," she said. "Magazine capacity restrictions are particularly ineffective—there are studies on it. Getting to the root of why people are depressed, why we are having these issues, what causes violence—those are the solutions we should look at."

Yes, they think government programs can help in this quest, but they are on the proper trajectory.

Every journey starts with a step. A smart approach would be to integrate these people into Deplorablism. Otherwise, we will be posting in 3 years about President Kamala Harris and her gun ban.
