The voice of New York, come Jan. 7, may be no more.
That’s because WABC, one of the city’s premiere, preeminent stations, is poised to boot Michael Savage — to deplatform him, in broadcast-speak, said his attorney, Daniel Horowitz, in a telephone interview.
WABC isn’t saying such; in fact, a recent news release from the station indicates Savage will be moving into a new, fresher format designed to take advantage of emerging media, one that will see him do one hour of radio alongside one hour of podcast.
But the behind-the-scenes story is a bit different.
According to Horowitz, who said he’s seen “the emails back and forth” between his client, Savage, and the radio powers-who-be, “The Savage Nation” is actually poised to go dark on WABC on Jan. 7.
And not just on WABC: Horowitz said media powerhouses in Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington, D.C., are all giving the boot to Savage, as well.
Why? What’s going on?
Well, it’s not ratings, Horowitz said. And he’s right; the numbers bear the truth of Savage’s years-long radio dominance.
Take a look: “Michael Savage Proves a Ratings Tour-de-Force on Bay Area’s KSFO,” Newsmax blared in a headline in June of 2016, in a story on Savage’s domination in that West Coast market.
Then there’s this: In late 2017, Talk Stream Live listed Savage, with 14.8 million listeners, as the second most-listened to top talk radio voice in the nation, behind only Rush Limbaugh’s 16.5 million listeners — but far ahead of third place Laura Ingraham’s 6.8 million.

He is especially threatening because his Bronx boyhood and his family history give him PERSONAL EXPERIENCE dealing with the type of secular commies from hell trying to destroy the country.
They KNOW he knows them well and can spill the beans about them.
So they feel they have to destroy him.

I have been EXTREMELY critical of Mike, have called him all kidns of names —I take back none of it.
But it is clear to me why they are doing this to him and I don’t like it.

Story is crap.
Savage has been doing 1-2 hours all year long and replaying then for the final hour of what should be a 3 hour broadcast.
Our voice is being snuffed out, many have gone to pod casts including many comedians who don’t walk the walk and are too “controversial”. In the UK comedy clubs now make the comedians fill out a contract stating that they are not to use any disparaging and hurtful hateful material. We are truly at war
I don’t think he’s been on in DC for a while. WMAL was only carrying two hours anyway, then they decided to “go local” and put Larry O’Connor in Savage’s time slot. That was a couple of years ago, I think.
I am not a Savage fan but his numbers are impressive and speak for themselves.
A good angry rant and tales from the old neighborhood can be informative and entertaining.
He definitely comes close to stomping on the toes of those in his own community but even he knows he has to pull his punches.
Perhaps he is asking for too much money.
From what I can tell, savage has been only going an hour or usually I think two hours a day. The third hour seems to almost always be a damned repeat of hour 1. This stinks for a supposedly- live radio show. And it makes the radio stations look awfully inept too. I can see stations wanting to end this sort of thing. If Michael only wants to do an hour or two, maybe schedule him that way and bring another person in to do live talk instead of the repeat hours
Respectfully, my good FRiend, I do not agree.
I happened to tune in to Mister Wiener (aka "Savage") a few times a few years ago, and each program he was breathlessly ranting campaign against AR-15 (the legal, civilian, semi-auto) type firearms.
I can paraphrase, something such as..."why do we allow such killing machines to be sold?". Not a quote, but close.
The anti 2A "Savage" has no business representing himself as a conservative American.
I'm not into corporate censorship, but I believe that an absence of the anti 2A "Savage" would not be a loss.

I always thought the guy was a total phony. Every now and then he’d have an epic rant, but he is so unpleasant and his voice so grating I can’t imagine how he ever made a career in the radio business.
In the last few years WABC has already lost Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity to NYC talk radio rival WOR. I think the industry is changing a lot, and many of these big radio stations are simply dropping their nationally syndicated shows and replacing them with cheaper — usually local — content.

So true. Every time I pass a Prius laden with bumper stickers I marvel how accurate Michael’s description is of “the mean clipped hair woman”.
He's definitely manic and can be entertaining at times. He speaks wildly on many different topics.
I'm not defending him. I don't see him on a pedestal. His political rants can fun to listen to now and again.
That said, when Mister Weiner chooses to rant against ownership of perfectly legal AR-15 rifles (as though these semiautomatic firearms were at some unusual fault)...
he then becomes a raving spokesman for the most favorite goal of the anti Second Amendment leftists.
Leftists.? I once thought that he was NOT one of those.
Savage. Anti 2A, and that means anti-American.
