Interference: In an age when most of the mainstream media have abandoned all journalistic ethical standards in a rush to hammer POTUS Donald Trump on a daily basis, there havent been many opportunities to praise the legacy press.
But The New York Times deserves kudos for a bombshell story the paper published late Wednesday that is, expectedly, being ignored by the other majors.
The gist of the story is this: An experiment to mimic Russian election meddling via social media manipulation during the 2016 election was launched by Leftist operatives in the Alabama Senate race involving Democrat Doug Jones, the winner, and Republican candidate Roy Moore.

No, illegal voting did.
Illegal voting and crossover voting, esp by naalcp folks.
How many GOP seats in CA were lost days after the election with fraudulent votes?Democrats cheat to win. Everyone knows that, but no one gets arrested, tried and jailed for election fraud. Next year’s presidential election will confirm that we are now a banana republic.
Perhaps people might forget, but when you go back to the fall of 2011...there were some social media attempts in Russia....attempting to meddle in the normal legislative election process. They used Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube oddly enough....to get a anti-Putin message across. Four months later, the Russian Presidential election got another dose of social media attempts to influence that election.
Who exactly started the meddling? You might want to take a long pause and think over what Obama Administration intentions were, and the lasting affect on our own Republic.
It was the stupidity of Alabama conservatives. They were the ones who bought the "Roy Moore is a pervert" lines the left was selling. They were the ones too stupid to see through the left taking out a candidate with out right lies. They were the ones responsible for staying home and not voting because, after all, how could they vote for a pervert?
And now those voters have a senator who votes for Planned Parenthood, against the second amendment, for ever thing they hate, and against everything they love.
Stupidity on the right, meaning not understanding the evil on the left and what they do, is truly monumental.....and scary.
From the article: “The secret project, carried out on Facebook and Twitter, was likely too small to have a significant effect on the race, in which the Democratic candidate it was designed to help, Doug Jones, edged out the Republican, Roy S. Moore.”
As long as Republican’s persist in nominating flawed candidates, democrats will persist in winning close elections. Judge Roy Moore should never have been considered for nomination.
Part of it as well was Roy Moore imitating a congenital idiot on the campaign trail; knowing he was in a close race yet spending the weekend before the election at the Army/Navy game in Philadelphia.
But those conservatives who fell for the leftist line, staying home in droves, were the ones at fault.
Sorry, it's just ridiculous that a far worse candidate, Doug Jones, is their Senator.
Democrat meddling in that election does not approach the meddling of Hannity.
I still have trouble forgetting the sheer stupidity of what he did.
He may not have affected the final outcome in his attempt to sabotage Moore, but if he did not, it was not because he did not give it his best shot.
I live in Alabama, I voted in that election and I attended Moore rallies. I can tell you for fact, at least I’m my circles, the women of Alabama stayed home or voted for Jones. They were very open about it. The media laid it on hard and the Democrat machine moved a lot of black votes. Moore was a flawed candidate no one down here liked anyway.
You are right Lakeshark, it was the GOP officials in Alabama that put Roy Moore on the ballot. Plus, the GOPe in the Congress (McConnell) were campaigning against Judge Moore. Hey people, it WASN’T the Russians.
The stay at home virtue-signalling "conservative" voters elected a far worse candidate, one who stood for everything they hate, and against everything they love.
Suckers. And damn fools.
“Moore was a flawed candidate no one down here liked anyway.”
He won the primary. Someone must have like him. (I’m in Alabama, too.) The press and the GOPe successfully sunk him. Without the baseless accusations and non-stop negative press he would be our senator.
There are no such thing as flawless candidates. The Democrats only need to persuade pearl-clutchers that there is a flaw by getting a half dozen liars to make accusations or say something exploitable. It doesn’t even have to be something bad... just something weird, or something they can mock, like a guy’s way of spelling “potato.”
In Moore’s case the accusation was that with a girl’s mother’s permission, he gave a girl a kiss.
Over 600,000 Alabama Trump voters loathed Roy Moore and stayed home, thinking he'd still easily win without their votes.
Yep, pretty sure they cheated in that one too.
And now those voters have a senator who votes for Planned Parenthood, against the second amendment, for ever thing they hate, and against everything they love.
So they got another Republican?
how nice

Roy Moore was just the latest in a long line of flawed candidates stretching from Todd Akins (women can’t get pregnant from rape) through Cristine O’Donnell (I’m not a witch) and Sharon Angle (converted an 11 point lead to trailing by 7 points in less than a month) to Judge Roy Moore.
Concur; Doug Jones is New York’s third senator. He does the full bidding of Schumer, nothing “moderate” about him. Hopefully, increased turnout for the presidential election and the fact that Trump won Alabama by 62 percent of the vote will get him out of the Senate.
