Knowing that Relotius' purpose was likely to focus on a few of our many conservative voters, I still had an ounce of faith in journalism. Maybe, just maybe, since he was a professional, award winning, international journalist and was spending not one day here but several weeks, he would craft an interesting, nuanced story about how we all somehow manage to coexist with each other in Trump's America without burning each other's houses down.
But I also had a distinct gut feeling that his portrayal of this town could go very, very wrong.
What happened is beyond what I could have ever imagined: An article titled "Where they pray for Trump on Sundays," and endless pages of an insulting, if not hilarious, excuse for journalism.

Germany is now full of cucks and women who enjoy being raped by savages.
In Germany they tried playing American football, but every time the referee signaled a first down everybody jumped up and cried “Sieg Heil!”
Not only that but German men run, hide and cry....Europe is a disgusting place.
How very odd for anyone to create such absolute fiction and publish it as factual journalism.
His article was total 'fake news' pure fiction pretending to be a factual portrayal of life in a small town that voted for Trump...damn deplorables.
Relotius should be caned. Repeatedly.
The modern Left lies reflexively. Their belief system doesnt stand up to actual reasoned debate, so they have to make things up. This guy just got caught rather egregiously.
Reminder - he was CNN Journalist of the Year in 2014. Fake News is what it is, and here is yet another example.
Funny how the evil Trumps America was caused by the despicable rats and their republican cohorts
A good MSM reporter never lets facts get in the way of a great story.
Roughly the same ratio (3 out of 8) people are liberal too, but possibly a little more because it is a college town. A lot of flyover liberals live in la-la land and think socialism could actually work, at least the Norwegian or Danish brand. That's because most of them have a Scandinavian background and a good work ethic which goes along with living in the upper Midwest with short summers which traditionally require hard work to prepare for the long winter. They just can't imagine that many people would abuse the system.
But more and more are seeing it with their own eyes as their communities become more diverse. And they know in their gut that a growing number of wagon riders and a shrinking number of wagon pullers is unsustainable.
There’s generally two types of journalists. One writes a forty-line piece to center on one basic story, with maybe three or four facts attached to it. In this case, you don’t need to spend more than a day talking to sources....getting insider info, and maybe developing a lead or two which hasn’t been noticed by anyone else.
The second type of journalist is the type that works for Time, Newsweek, German news magazines like Focus or Spegel, etc. This is where you kinda pretend you interviewed twenty to forty people, and you have two to four pages (with photos) to lay out this broad story. There are certain individuals who have a great talent of doing this. And then you have others who really can’t interview people that well, or get the story dynamic that they want for the magazine.
This guy is a failure at longer stories, and can’t tell any story but the story in his mind. He might go off for a year and eventually find some print-media group to hire him, but mandate someone review every single story that he turns in.
Wow. No words.
Inaccessible (at least here in Germany, without registering / paying).
Regards,
Been going on since Andy Rooney accompanied Harry Reasoner back to Humboldt/Dakota City and laughed at the rubes while bending his elbow once the day’s work was done. It is what sophisticated, educated, tolerant urbanites do, particularly if they happen to be “journalists.”
Does everyone here understand this sort of made up, after the occasion, set of notes is what the FBI does after they interview people? They write down after the interview what is the truth as they think they heard it and they disallow any recordings of the encounter. In fact, they wont interview you if there is a recorder that might prove their version was full of lies.
The "journalist" was a pure leftist who had a preconceived conclusion, then he pretended to gather facts for his story. Much like Comey deciding the guilt or innocence of whoever the FBI interviews, before he interviewed the person all based on the outcome he wanted.
