“There is a victory near over Isis but it has very little to do with us.” “...like we did with Iraq in Mosul”

Thanks for citing the biggest defeat that ISIS has ever suffered (Mosul), to counter your own argument that the US has little to do with the defeat of ISIS. The US provided the airpower for that battle (the biggest urban battle since Stalingrad in WWII), as well as direct support artillery. The overwhelming bulk of the explosives which reduced that major city were produced in the United States.

In fact, the overwhelming amount of the explosives dropped on ISIS all throughout Iraq and Syria (Fallujah, Ramadi, Raqqa, etc.) were American provided, and often American delivered on target. The US did not go door-to-door in Mosul - the Iraqi Army, Counter-Terrorism Forces and Popular Mobilization Units (Hashd al Shaabi militias) did.

The United States provided the overall planning, command and control of the entire Coalition campaign to destroy ISIS in detail across Iraq and Syria (and beyond). This included real time intelligence/targeting information, as well as organizing, training, equipping and paying for local militias who did kick in doors.

The Assad Regime had its hands full with the Turkish/Qatari/Obama/McCain-supported jihadis in the Heartland (M5 corridor from Damascus to Aleppo) and North of Syria. In percentage terms, only a few percentage points of ISIS casualties were inflicted by Regime forces (Palmyra, along the Southern edge of Lake Assad). They tacitly allowed the USA to manage clearing ISIS West of the Euphrates River and in the major operation to liberate Raqqa, with local militias (SDF, who now control the territory). The US Coalition defeated ISIS.

The upcoming battle in Idlib looks to be shaping up as a Syrian Regime/Russian/(Iranian?) effort, against Turkish/(Qatari?)-supported rebels - without significant US involvement. Good luck to you all.
