Just think, if those spineless Republicans led by Trent Lott had convicted the bent one instead of playing Kabuki theater, the trajectory of our history would be in a totally different and more positive direction. No Hillary, no Obama and maybe no 9/11. The repercussions will take 100 years to flush out of our system, if the republic makes it another 100 years.

Chafee Collins Jeffords and Specter were the Not Guilty votes from the R side on Obstruction of Justice.

They had 50 Guilty votes, which was 17 short of conviction. It never had a chance.

I don't know that it would have been more positive. As I recall, the impeachment did not enjoy widespread public support. And Clinton would have been succeeded by Gore, who came very close to winning in 2000. A conviction might have actually strengthened the 'rats.
