I don't like these events at all. ISIS is not completely defeated yet and Turkey is threatening our Kurdish allies who we fought alongside to defeat ISIS. Having these troops here are also a check against growing Iranian ambitions. There are a lot of reasons to keep these 2000 troops in Syria.

Could be the President saying this in the same vein as when he says he’ll end chain migration or have Mexico pay for the wall. He thinks it is a good idea, but probably will not be able to get it done.
