But opposition from lawmakers and the National Rifle Association ultimately made a regulatory change the only realistic path forward to accomplishing the President's goal.

1. I thought the NRA was broke and dying off. Which is it, CNN?

2. Well, as long as it's the only way the President can get his way, it's ok if he ignores the law and the Constitution. We don't need that silly Congress to make laws, after all, when the President has a pen and a phone. This is some Obama-esque thinking.

Following right along in Obamas footsteps. Obama is probably smiling about how Trump is following along in his footsteps with creating new laws and ignoring the role Congress is supposed to play in the process and using the power of the Presidential EO to create new laws instead. That's kind of what wannabe dictator styled Presidents like to do it isn't it?

So much for Trump wanting to restore the rule of law and the Constitution and faith in government in America. Turns out to be just so much typical hot air campaign rhetoric when the dust settles.
