I always push back hard on attempts to get me to yield to PC. My favorite line for them is, "PC is merely a tool of tyrants".
It’s obvious that what we’re witnessing is an assault on our American values by communism. But the majority of people are a bunch of dumbasses and that’s the point. It becomes a way of life. The most sickening thing is to watch Americans fall for this and they have no will to fight it.
For me,personally,it started in the early 80s.
A young woman at work was having a birthday and when she got into work I said,”Good morning, birthday girl.”.
She was annoyed and said,”I am NOT a girl,I am a woman.”
.
Ive never been able to locate it, but I recall a column by Thomas Sowell - from the 1980s I believe, titled: VISIGOTHS IN TWEED foretelling theonswt of PC tyranny. It was the first of hundreds upon hundreds of his columns Ive read.

Generalized leftism was bigger and more influential still.
The elements that make up modern leftist thinking were floating around a century ago and were picked up and put together in different ways by people in different countries over the course of a century.
I don't think you can trace everything back to Adorno and Horkheimer.
Thanks for posting this nice essay.

The way I see it, the roots proceed directly from the hatred and rejection of God. It is spiritual rebellion.
You got it. No matter how hard mankind tries to engineer utopia, the only true solution is God’s plan. He will overcome evil at the end of the age where man’s law is replaced by God’s.
Good read, sounds like a good speech for the Floor of the House of Representatives.
Early eighties sounds about right. At first no one took it all that seriously. Sort of like the slight ache that is revealed to be stage 4 bone cancer
That said, having done some reading a number of years ago, I think I found one of the earliest usages of the terminology "politically correct" from January 24, 1919. By the way, note the gun confiscation, then extermination. I found it in:
The Dirty War page 99
In February 1919, after the general advance of the Bolsheviks into Ukraine and southern Russia, the first detachment of the Red Army penetrated the Cossack territories along the Don. At the outset the Bolsheviks took measures to destroy everything that made the Cossacks a separate group: their land was confiscated and redistributed among Russian colonizers or local peasants who did not have Cossack status; they were ordered, on pain of death, to surrender all their arms (historically, as the traditional frontier soldiers of the Russian empire, all Cossacks had a right to bear arms); and all Cossack administrative assemblies were immediately dissolved.
All these measures were part of the preestablished de-Cossackization plan approved in a secret resolution of the Bolshevik Party's Central Committee on 24 January 1919: "In view of the experiences of the civil war against the Cossacks, we must recognize as the only politically correct measure massive terror and a merciless fight against the rich Cossacks, who must be exterminated and physically disposed of, down to the last man." 34
In practice, as acknowledged by Reingold, the president of the Revolu- tionary Committee of the Don, who was entrusted with imposing Bolshevik rule in the Cossack territories, "what was carried out instead against the Cossacks was an indiscriminate policy of massive extermination." 35 From mid- February to mid-March 1919, Bolshevik detachments executed more than 8,000 Cossacks. 36 In each stanitsa (Cossack village) revolutionary courts passed summary judgments in a matter of minutes, and whole lists of suspects were condemned to death, generally for "counterrevolutionary behavior." In the face of this relentless destruction, the Cossacks had no choice but to revolt.
I first used the term in 1989, although I can’t remember what it was in reference to... probably something laughable compared to today.
