The United States must revamp policies toward Africa on improving trade, fighting terrorism, and providing financial assistance to stave off the growing influence of China and Russia on the continent, White House national security adviser John Bolton said.
Great power competitors, namely China and Russia, are rapidly expanding their financial and political influence across Africa, Bolton said Thursday in an address at The Heritage Foundation in Washington. They are deliberately and aggressively targeting their investments in the region to gain a competitive advantage over the United States.
[snip]The predatory practices pursued by China and Russia stunt economic growth in Africa; threaten the financial independence of African nations; inhibit opportunities for U.S. investment; interfere with U.S. military operations; and pose a significant threat to U.S. national security interests, Bolton said.

That doesn’t seem to be the case. How China operates is sending in weapons and giving UNSC protection to the warlords in exchange for China getting the resources.
I don’t ever want to see us fighting wars over Africa......its a totally different culture and intellect...

There’s an enormous amount of mining going on and potential mining - that’s the reason Clinton was so enamored of Morocco and a number of other countries there. Same goes for her pal Joseph Wilson.
Cobalt, coltan [tantalite], uranium, platinum, and petroleum and NG all are on the table with all their byproducts. Africa has almost a third of the planet’s remaining unexploited resources.
