We had a homosexual scout master in my Iowa troop in the mid-late ‘50’s. He was eventually murdered for his troubles. No lawsuits, arrests, convictions. Remains a cold case to the best of my knowledge.

My guess was he was also a pedophile rather than merely a homosexual.
Had a district scout executive (BSA employee) who was rumored to be a fag, and he seemed to spend a lot of time with our troop. In retrospect I’ve wondered if he tried something with a kid, because he just disappeared without notice. We just figured it was because he was a queer, and who the hell would want a queer around their kids?
A faggy kid would not have lasted one camping trip in my old troop.
I’m an Eagle Scout, Class of Nov 1963, and this past 10yrs has been very, very sad. I also cherish my years in Scouting in the 50s & early 60s.
