Yet something equally significant can be said about the semi-automatic AR-15 derived from the M16. All told, more Americans have fired more rounds from more AR-15s for personal defense, defensive firearm training, marksmanship competitions, individual practice, and hunting than from any other rifle. For that reason, the AR-15 is the primary firearm upon which Americans would rely if they had to fight for freedom today.

It is an interesting article.Since we live in the country I need more long range performance.So it’s a 7.62 for me.I do have a couple of AR15’s and an M16A1 for the wife.

You do know that AR’s can be configured in 7.62.
Are people actually buying ArmarLite AR-15’s or other companies versions? I’m thinking of getting one but don’t know which one has good pricing and reliability.
Democrats are the best advertisement for the ready availability of the AR-15.
.340 Weatherby and a 6.5 Creedmore is my choice for long range, Weatherby is identical to the .338 Lapua with the same grain bullets.
That being said, it’s been so sad after I lost all of them in that tragic landslide we had here...

I like my IMI Golani in 5.56mm, also a Kalashnikov derivative. All steel except the folding stock. Replaced the plastic with wood.
Never liked M-16s. In Vietnam I carried a folder AK in the cockpit but an M-16 on ground duty. Plastic & aluminum - yuk. Went back in the reserves & carried a M-16A2. Better, but I still dig the AK.
Anyway, good to know that AR-15 ownership is proliferating. Makes Schumer & Feinstein sh*t square nickels knowing AR-15’s are out there in the millions. Molon labe!
I have ‘a friend’ with a Bushmaster AR-10, and it’ll shoot 7.62 or 308.
If shooting prone/bipod, it’s a tack driver at 150 yds. Hits a deer-sized target at 500.
